What is 3D-Tool ?

Basic

Features:

  • Visualization, analysis and publication of 3D and 2D CAD files
  • Basic 3D interfaces: STL, VRML, SLP, PLY, XGL, OBJ, 3DS, ASC, IV
  • Basic 2D Interfaces: DXF, DWG, HPGL / HPGL2

Specifications

The 3D-Tool is a professional CAD-Viewer for 3D models and 2D drawings. You don't need special CAD skills to visualize 3D models, to measure distances, angles, rays, and wall thicknesses, as well as to create cross sections and exploded visualizations.

The 3D-NativeCAD converter allows you to convert 3D-CAD files into common 3D exchange formats.

The difference between the Basic, Advanced, and Premium version is the supported 3D file format. In addition, they offer the same functions for viewing and analyzing 3D models and 2D drawings.

Languages:

  • Installation and documentation: English, German
  • User interface: English, German, French, Korean

3D-Basic Import Limitations:

The following limitations apply when opening templates using the Basic interfaces.

  • VRML The viewer will only load triangulateed data (IndexedFaceSets) from VRML files.

3D-Tool Viewer functions:

  • Hide and show parts
  • Adjust the graphic display of the parts: color, transparency, shadow mode
  • Move, rotate, scale, and copy parts
  • Display of product manufacturing information (PMI) for native CATIA V5/V6, Pro/Engineer, Creo, and Siemens/UG NX models
  • Property editor to edit names, colors, and transparencies
  • Create cross-sections
  • Explode assemblies
  • Create animations
  • Place models in the coordinate system and align models
  • Repair bad edges and twisted surfaces
  • RP-Layout tool for placing models on an RP platform
  • 3D-mouse support made by 3Dconnexion
  • 3D dimensions: distance, angle, radius, diameter, wall thickness, 2D-dimensions: distance, angle, radius, diameter
  • Comparative model: highlight the differences graphically
  • Tool analysis: drafts, projection angles, projected area, lower cuts
  • Wall thickness analysis
  • Information on dimensions, volume, surface area and weight
  • Save custom views;
  • Custom preview editor to manage custom views
  • Add 3D annotations
  • Add 2D-annotations and round line markup
  • Add photos and text
  • Publish 3D-Tool EXE/DDD files to share your projects
  • Publish 3D-PDF files to be viewed with Acrobat Reader
  • Save models like STL, VRML, PLY, 3DS, OBJ and U3D
  • print
  • Create BMP / JPG Images
  • Capture the screen section for the clipboard
  • Export animations such as AVI-video

Premium

Features:

  • Visualization, analysis and publication of 3D and 2D CAD files
  • 3D-NativeCAD Converter
  • Premium 3D Interfaces: CATIA, Pro/E, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, UG/Siemens NX, SolidWorks, SolidEdge, STEP, IGES, VDA, SAT, JT, Parasolid
  • Advanced 3D interfaces: STEP, IGES, VDA, SAT, Parasolid
  • Basic 3D interfaces: VRML, STL, 3DS, SLP, XGL, OBJ, ASC, IV, PLY
  • Basic 2D Interfaces: DXF, DWG, HPGL / HPGL2

Advanced

Features:

  • Visualization, analysis and publication of 3D and 2D CAD files
  • Advanced 3D interfaces: STEP, IGES, VDA, SAT, Parasolid
  • Basic 3D interfaces: VRML, STL, 3DS, SLP, XGL, OBJ, ASC, IV, PLY
  • Basic 2D Interfaces: DXF, DWG, HPGL / HPGL2

3D-Advanced Import Limitations:

The following limitations apply when opening templates using advanced interfaces.

  • Advanced-Import does not provide Acure for generating "watertight" models. Due to the triangulation of the models during import, there will usually be open edges. In rare cases, there may be missing surfaces.
  • IGES IGES files often do not contain information about the normals of the face (inside/outside). This can lead to inverted surfaces when IGES files are imported into 3D-Tool. This means that the inside of the surfaces is turned outwards, which can have a negative effect, especially in the volume calculation and other model analyses.

System requirements:
