What is Alp?

Comprehensive analysis of laterally charged stacks applying EC7 and user-defined partial factors.

Quick and simple analysis of side-loaded batteries

Alp allows you to analyze side-loaded stacks with ease, producing results as comparison charts in minutes. The software predicts pressures, horizontal movements, shear forces and bending moments induced in a pile when subjected to lateral loads, bending moments and imposed displacements of the ground. Side loads and bending moments can be applied at any point in the stack, as well as partial or total, lateral or bending moment constraints.

Alp software is designed to stack projects of all sizes. You can customize options to get and share results in a clear graphical output, even in the most demanding projects. With multiple output features and COM interface, Alp is a fast, accurate and simple software solution for analysis of side-loaded batteries.

How Alp works

Input: The software is simple to configure with an intuitive interface and the recently released COM interface feature, which encourages automation and streamlining of workflows. The program allows the user to use predefined PY curves for standard soils. Water pressures can be specified as hydrostatic or piezometric. Side loads, flie moments, and constraints can be set anywhere below the stack. Displacements can be imposed on the soil body around the pile, the top of which may be above ground level.

Analysis: Alp  represents the stack as a series of elastic beam elements and the ground as a series of independent springs. It handles soil properties at varying depths and can specify water pressures as hydrostatic or piezometric. So, if appropriate, you can also apply side loads or flie moments anywhere below the stack.

The deflection behavior of the soil load can be modeled assuming an elastic plastic behavior or by specifying or generating load deflection data (i.e., PY). Two stiffness matrices are developed, relating nodaal forces to displacements. One represents the pile in flexion and the other represents the soil.

Output: Full exportable tabular and graphic outputs are available. The COM interface can also be used to handle outputs.
