Step-by-step instructions for Windows

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Bank2IIF. Download it from the Bank2IIF download page. Start Bank2IIF and select a transaction file (can be QBO file, OFX file, QFX file, QIF file, or PDF file).
  • Review transactions before conversion, make sure the dates are correct, if the year is correct, if deposits and cashouts are in the correct places.
  • Enter the name of the main account to match the bank account in Quickbooks.
  • Map the names of beneficiaries or payers to the names of Suppliers or Customers in Quickbooks. In our case, we have three expense transactions (requires vendor assignment) and one revenue transaction (requires customer assignment). Bookstore Invoice, Gas Company, Hydro and Microsoft are Beneficiary names.
  • For example, for 'Bookstore invoice', the vendor name is 'Indigo'.
  • Click on the 'Beneficiary/Categories' tab. For 'Incoming Recipient', type the name in the 'Checkout' column, as in Quickbooks (for 'Bookstore invoice', type 'Indigo'). Everything else you can leave blank because the converter will not change it.
  • The name has been changed.
  • Check the customer name (in our case 'Microsoft') in Quickbooks. If you don't have the same name in Quickbooks, you can add it here.
  • Map categories or beneficiary names to expense account names in Quickbooks. In our case, we have four categories: Office supplies, Utilities, Utilities and Payroll.
  • Click 'Lists' - 'Account plan'.
  • In Utilities (Expenses), they are corresponding as well as 'Office material' (expense).
  • For Payroll - Income category. It must be revenue consulting.
  • Click on the 'Beneficiary/Categories' tab. For 'Entry category' (Payroll), type the name in the 'Output category' column (Consulting revenue).
  • Now, all things are in the right order. Make sure that all accounts, vendors, and customers exist in Quickbooks.
  • Click the 'Convert' button to create an IIF file.
  • Confirm the name and location of the file.
  • Import IIF file created for Quickbooks
  • Now that the IIF file has been created, switch to Quickbooks and import the created IIF file. Be sure to back up the Quickbooks data file before any IIF import. Click 'Archive' - 'Utilities' - 'Import' - 'IIF Files'. Find the IIF file you just created.
  • Done! Transactions are imported.
