CEDAS is an interactive Windows-based design and analysis system for engineers and scientists working in coastal, oceanic and hydraulic engineering and oceanography. CEDAS is a comprehensive collection of coastal engineering analysis and design software, developed by or for the US Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station. Its content ranges from simple technologies from the popular ACES package to sophisticated models for multidimensional hydrodynamics, wave propagation, near-shore hydrodynamics and beach processes, port entry and oscillation technology. The powerful tools in this package are complemented by pre- and post-processing routines, multidimensional graphical tools for viewing and animating results, grid generation software and access to extensive wave/wind/bathymetric data capabilities.

User environment

CEDAS uses the popular visual development environment employed by microsoft's core products. CEDASA user interface consists of an integrated set of windows, tools, menus, toolbars, and directories that allow the user to create, test, analyze, and refine the application in one place. The interface uses two main windows for workspaces that are fully adjustable. The window on the left tracks the files associated with an application session. This window contains multiple tabbed pages organized by functionality. Each page contains a data tree that allows the user to organize the data based on user-defined groups. The right window is the application workspace where data entry files are developed, data resources are queried for import, grids are generated, results displayed and plotted, and decisions are made to save and/or print.

CEDAS Security Options

OPTION 1

CEDAS comes with software security protection designed for installation on a single PC. Upon completion of the installation, the first attempt to access the software will result in your PC producing a unique ID. Call or email Veritech Enterprises, LLC with your serial number and unique ID for an appropriate unique unlock number. Software security is provided at no additional cost.

OPTION 2

CEDAS can be protected through a Sentinel hardware key. This device, called dongle, must be connected to the computer where the software is being used OR on another device connected to the same network as the computer you are using (that is, a server or other connected computer). Sentinel software is installed during the CEDAS installation process. Keys with multiple licenses are no different from a single license key, except for the number of licenses scheduled for that key. The Sentinel device tracks the number of simultaneous CEDAS users. If the number of users exceeds the total number of licenses purchased, a message is provided to "extra" users that they should expect access to. CEDAS must be installed on each "client" machine that will potentially use these products.

All dongles use a USB interface. Greater flexibility is achieved by purchasing separate keys for a single user in place of a multi-user key. For example, suppose you have 3 user licenses and 3 single-user keys. If a colleague is traveling, he can take one of the keys, leaving 2 keys for use in the company network. This allows the traveler to use the product in the field without having to connect back and connect to the company network to get permission to use the software. Purchasing a 3-user key requires all users to be connected to the company network to gain access to the software.
