What is CENTERA RETENTION MANAGER?

Enterprise Vault was one of the first applications to add native support to EMC Centera - a popular option for storing archived information.

As more customers begin to implement policies to expire data, there is a need to change the retention items stored in Centera - since Enterprise Vault was used to set the Centera retention period.

Changing item retention can create a number of challenges - especially if Centera is in Governance mode or is a Compliance-Plus model with the need to change the retention period of the Enterprise Vault retention category.

In Vault, we're facing this problem head-on with an application specifically designed to help Centera users in "Governance" mode. Archive Accelerator Centera Retention Manager leverages EMC Centera's "privileged delete" role to change the retention of items already placed in Centera. There is no need for data to be archived or reindexed - and information does not need to be moved into or out of Centera.

In addition, while enhanced Retention Manager works with or without the Enterprise Vault Collections feature, the companies that have activated it will see a significant performance gain. The end result is real-world reprocessing rates of more than 10 million messages per hour.
