What is ChronoSculpt?

ChronoSculpt is a powerful new standalone application that revolutionizes the work with animation cache files and dynamic simulation of any application, allowing the use of sculpting and transformation tools over time. ChronoSculpt also features a new radical geometry engine based on our "Hydra" technology, which allows the deformation and manipulation of 8 to 10 million polygonal objects with ease.

Using industry-standard vertex cache files in Alembic, LightWave MDD, or Autodesk Geometry Cache formats, you can easily detect errors in your dynamic simulations or even completely change a character's appearance with layered sculpture "clips" in the timeline or globally to affect every frame of the cached animation.

ChronoSculpt also lets you export any frame of your sculpture or warp directly to a LightWave, Endomorph, or OBJ object file (for blending shapes in Autodesk Maya).

ChronoSculpt can potentially save hours of work by allowing you to quickly make changes to dynamic simulation cache files, to address simulation instability, soft-body penetrations, or to remove lost simulation parts and take the picture out the door.

ChronoSculpt Overview

Revolutionary Sculpture of Time

Quickly and easily remove dynamic simulation errors and instability to sculpt deformations in cache files of most 3D software programs

Sculpture tools

Use tools like sculpting, dragging, pinching and erasing to warp and manipulate geometry over time.

Transformation tools

Edit individual geometry over time in a dynamic simulation cache, using tools like Transform, Pin, and Bulge to complete projects quickly

Improved geometry engine

To handle massive geometry files, 8 to 10 million polygonal objects can be edited with ease.

Universal File Support

ChronoSculpt supports LWO, OBJ, LightWave MDD, Autodesk Geometry Cache, and Alembic for easy integration into all software pipelines

Export of Mixture Form and OBJ Endomorphs

Easily save any frame from the ChronoSculpt timeline as an OBJ for Maya Blend Shapes or as an Endomorph directly into LightWave object files to create facial metamorphosis targets and warp effects

Clip timeline

Quickly reposition and adjust the length of your sculptures anywhere on the timeline to get the perfect effect in cache animations or make global changes that apply to the entire animation

Fixation simulations

Correct simulations without the need to recalculate

Adjusting fabric simulations

Tissue simulations are complex. Often, getting the look right can involve a lot of testing and simulation time. With ChronoSculpt, adjusting simulations or correcting penetration errors is as simple as using a brush.

Correct dynamics

Using ChronoSculpt to fix dynamic simulations can greatly speed up lead times. Often, an unauthorized part of the simulation can be the most difficult problem to fix by recalculating the entire simulation due to the chaotic nature of the dynamics. ChronoSculpt provides powerful tools to overcome this problem.

Rest dynamics

Simulations that suffer from 'flicker', where parts of the simulation never stop, can often be very difficult to correct without affecting the entire animation. ChronoSculpt's 'Pin' tool is perfect for arranging these problem areas with a smooth stop, saving endless adjustments and re-simulation time.

Add details, create variations

Sculpts more refined details in your models

Typical bone animations and shapes/combinations tend to lack subtleties, such as showing the tendons of an arm when flexed or the wrinkles of the face when a character smiles. By exporting a high-resolution point cache and importing it into ChronoSculpt, you can sculpt these details and export the resulting point cache to reapply to the model.

Animate any changes over time

ChronoSculpt's focused toolset allows you to edit cache data with any of the tools over time. It features a simple yet powerful timeline to allow any 'editing' to be combined into existing cache data.
