What is Code 128?

Code 128 barcodes are widely used compact codes for shipping label specifications, distribution, inventory, and asset management and tracking. Code 128 codes come in three sets of codes—a, bec—and can include letters, numbers, punctuation marks, control codes, and special characters called FNC1 (function one).

GS1-128 is a type of Code 128 barcode that conforms to GS1 system standards and also comes in the a, bec code sets. GS1 has a useful GS1-128 FAQ here.
