What is CryptoSharp?

CryptoSharp is the security library that offers a complete suite of encryption tools for .NET developers.

Developers are able to create spectacularly powerful apps that transform everyday life for individuals, but when a company's assets or reputation are on the line, the stakes become much higher. In the information age and interdependent digital economy that is driving globalization and progress today, protecting a company's sensitive files in any way possible is the key to survival.

There are competitors who are willing to try almost any means of obtaining your data, and one of the most damaging breaches a company can suffer is that of intellectual property that has been developed and perfected being appropriated or misused in the hands of a competitor. Intellectual property is under siege through the actions of hackers who are able to access systems remotely and with relative immunity from repercussion. The victims of this crime often do not receive redress. Financial systems are particularly sensitive to being hacked due to the large amount of valuable data they process. For a corporation, compromising intellectual property to a sufficiently significant degree could take a price mark in the millions.

Developers must arm themselves against the various forces that are working against them. Cryptographic methods have long been used to secure businesses. But technology can also be used against a company. CryptoSharp is designed to combat this threat.

9Rays.Net CryptoSharp is a newly developed security library, which is now available to the wider developer community.

Containing a variety of powerful tools, hash functions, and ciphers, CryptoSharp is designed to offer a complete suite of encryption and easy-to-deliver security aids. Data compression and encryption is accomplished with platform-independent code that will work in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. Advanced features, such as encrypted storage, provide reliable protection for structured, file-based data.

The standard .NET classes are used as a template for the components of the library. This serves dual purposes, not only to add encryption features to newly developed programs, but in addition, it makes refactoring encryption to existing programs a much more streamlined process. Basic and multi-threaded ciphers can be loaded into the CryptoSharp library side-by-side and are automatically accessed by the system, which is using the library.

CryptoSharp's ability to transparently load compatible components makes it easy to customize to the target environment by simply copying the required set of components. CryptoSharp can then adapt to the target operating system, number of cores, hardware configuration and so on.

CryptoSharp includes a unique Key Manager component, which will transparently handle user-provided passwords and binary keys. This will save a huge amount of time and headaches for developers otherwise required to write code for password and key management. The prominent one in the CryptoSharp toolkit is the file shredder, which securely removes data after it has been encrypted.

The shredder replaces the data a given number of times, making data recovery less feasible with each pass.

After the data is completely erased, the shredder deletes the file, removing all traces of its directory record. The file data is encoded in such a way that the original file cannot be reconstituted by any means. With all these features encapsulated in one package, CryptoSharp is the preeminent tool for developers today to secure important intellectual property from those who would abuse it. Applications must be secured to ensure that your business is secure. 9Rays.Net's CryptoSharp is your secret weapon against hackers.

NOTE: CryptoSharp does not contain unmanaged or insecure code; All components are platform-independent and can run in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments (with the exception of some optional components optimized for the platform).

What's new:

CryptoSharp 1.3 released Added Message Authentication Components (CMAC and HMAC). The ConvertPassword function has been extended to fully comply with PKCS #5. New encoding functions added: EncodeBlock / DecodeBlock and EncodeUtf8String / DecodeUtf8String. Dynamic loading made faster. New auxiliary classes: Crc32 and MpInt. New IComponentState interface. IEncryptor and Encrypted Storage now use HMAC to compute critical checksums (backward compatibility supported).

CryptoSharp 1.2 released Added the Visual Tour with a number of demo apps. Pseudo RNG has been completely rewritten to comply with the revised 800-90 Revised Journal. Several changes to True RNG to improve the quality of the random data generated. Many small improvements and fixes.

System Requirements:

.NET Framework 2.0
