Step-by-step instructions for Windows
The IIF format allows better control of the imported data than the QBO format and importable by older Quickbooks.
The CSV file must be named Date, Amount, Category (expense account/revenue), Beneficiary (Vendor in QuickBooks), Bank, or Credit card account.
Click Change +/- to reverse the quantity signs for the entire file. Useful for credit card files with positive amounts for expenses.
Review the transactions before importing and click the 'Convert' button to create an IIF file
Confirm the name and location of the file.
Import IIF file created for Quickbooks
Now that the IIF file has been created, switch to Quickbooks and import the IIF file that you created. Be sure to back up the Quickbooks data file before any IIF import.
In Quickbooks, click 'File' - 'Utilities' - 'Import' - 'IIF Files'. Locate the IIF file that you just created.
Done! Transactions are imported.
Review the transactions in Quickbooks after importing.
