What is Data and Tools?

Data and Tools is a web-based application designed to help policymakers and investors identify potential windy areas for wind power generation virtually anywhere in the world and perform preliminary calculations. This tool facilitates online queries and provides free-to-download datasets based on the latest modeling methodologies and input data.

Users can also download high-resolution maps showing the global wind resource potential of countries, regions, and countries in the Downloads section.

The European Wind Atlas describes the fundamentals of the wind atlas methodology and WAsP models. We've also linked to the atlas database (even if it's a bit old now) and will add more tools and datasets as soon as they're available.

Data and Tools is a free utility tool for wind energy engineers, designed for importing, selecting, and analyzing time series of wind data – including the generation of observed average climates for wind resource assessment and observed extreme climates for IEC site assessment. The observed average wind climates and extreme wind climates generated with WAsP Climate Analyst can be imported directly into WAsP and WAsP Engineering, respectively.

The topographical descriptions of those found. the locations of the stations and wind turbines can be derived directly from the space shuttle elevation data in the WAsP Map Editor. With this tool, you can also read, edit, view, and transform several other vector formats of elevation and land cover data, including common GIS formats and files exported from Google Earth. In addition, we provide the WAsP Terrain Workshop for advanced 3D visualization and vector grid format conversion.

The wind turbine is specified by power and pressure curves and this data can be established and edited using the WAsP Turbine Editor.
