What is DbVisualizer?

DbVisualizer is tested with major JDBC databases and drivers. For the most commonly used databases in the industry, support for database-specific features has been added.

The DbVisualizer UI

DbVisualizer has a tab-based user interface that gives you a lot of control over the layout and how to work with your objects and database editors. There are also options to hide certain areas of the UI to better suit individual preferences and for the use of screen space.

Connection Management

DbVisualizer is based on the JDBC toolkit and there are JDBC drivers for almost all available databases on the market. DbVisualizer supports connection to local, remote (ssh-based) and embedded (Java-based) databases. Connection management is flexible, with options for setting up a connection through the Step-by-Step Connection Wizard or manually setting the connection data.

By default, separate physical connections are used to provide transaction isolation and ensure reliable parallel execution. When necessary, for example, if you work with an inline database, a single physical connection can be used for everything.

Database Object Management

Database Object Management is about navigating through database objects and administering objects such as tables, procedures, functions, triggers, packages, modules, and so on.

Database server management

Database Server Management is about controlling and administering the database server. This includes areas such as instance, session storage, and security management. Each database server is different and therefore is the support for managing the database server in DbVisualizer.

Task Management and Memory Monitoring

Most dbvisualizer features run in the background so that you can work with other tasks while running, for example, a large SQL script or a database export. All active background tasks are monitored in a task manager that supports interruptions.
