Features of the Vyapin Migration Tool for SharePoint and Office 365

Move documents and metadata from file shares to SharePoint libraries

Import or move folders and files along with NTFS metadata and permissions from file shares to SharePoint libraries by using the Dockit Migrator for SharePoint and the Office 365 explorer interface or batch file. Dockit Migrator allows you to associate metadata from documents stored in an external MS-Excel/CSV file, thereby eliminating the burden of manually entering values into documents during check-in. This feature is extremely useful when you have document properties (metadata) stored in a database or spreadsheet or any other third-party DMS/CMS application.

Migrate site collections, webs, and lists to SharePoint 2013/2016/2019 and Office 365

Migrate or upgrade site collections, subsites, lists, libraries, and their content along with metadata, permissions, views, alerts, web parts (membership only), workflows, content types, columns, and custom ASPX pages by using the Dockit Migrator explorer or batch file interface.

Migrate user documents to OneDrive for Business sites

Import folders and files along with file metadata and permissions from file shares or home drives into OneDrive for Business libraries. Migrate bulk content from users' file shares to their respective OneDrive for Business locations in a single migration task.

Assign metadata to documents in SharePoint Libraries by using a metadata file

Update document metadata for documents that already reside in SharePoint libraries by using the field values specified in the metadata file. This feature is extremely useful for updating the document metadata on its own, without affecting the original document.

Import data or metadata from MS-Excel/CSV into SharePoint lists

Import, update (edit), and delete list items in a SharePoint list based on the line entries in the batch file (MS-Excel/CSV format). Manage list items that reside in multiple SharePoint lists by using a single batch file. Dockit Migrator allows you to import metadata and its associated file attachments into SharePoint lists, such as Tasks, Calendar, Contacts, Search, Discussion Boards, Announcements, Links, Issue Tracking, and Custom Lists. Dockit Migrator can also update metadata (column values) for existing SharePoint list items or delete the items, including file attachments in the SharePoint list.

Transfer NTFS permissions

Map the NTFS folder and user/filegroup permissions to equivalent permission levels on SharePoint sites. Assign SharePoint roles to AD users and groups, and apply security settings to their folders and files during content migration to SharePoint.

Extract metadata from documents on file shares

Generate metadata for a list of files/documents residing on file shares or local drives. Extract metadata from file summary properties and custom properties for various file formats. You can extract document properties associated with Microsoft Office and PDF and file properties from various file types, such as JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HTML, TXT, MSG. This feature will be useful for automatically generating folder structures, listing files, and extracting metadata across multiple file share locations that must be migrated to SharePoint.

Group and clear metadata for documents in SharePoint libraries

Generate a complete inventory of library/list items in a SharePoint library or list along with their metadata and export this information to a CSV/XLSX file. This tool is extremely useful when you want to clean up your existing metadata or populate the missing metadata and insert new metadata (rearrange the metadata) during the migration of content to a new SharePoint server.

Pre-migration validation checklist to avoid errors

Validate task settings when importing documents and metadata into SharePoint libraries/lists by running a dry test to minimize errors during a live import.

Migration status reports

View detailed reports on migration activities classified as successfully completed, errors, warnings, and items ignored after the migration job is complete. The migration history for work can be viewed at any time until it is cleared by the user.
