How to enter or change a date in a cell using the pop-up calendar

Select a cell.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter Date' > The date selector will be displayed next to the cell.

Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter date'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl +; (semicolon).

Choose a date you need in the calendar> Done.

Notice the date format: is this what you wanted? Learn how to change the default date format.

To change a date value, click the Calendar icon to the right of the > Change Date.

The pop-up calendar remembers the last date used, so it's easier to enter a date next time.

How to enter the current date in a date selector cell

Select a cell in which you want to enter the current date.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter Time' button > Calendar will be suspended.

Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter date'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl +; (semicolon).

Click 'Today' at the bottom of the Calendar> Done.

How to fill an entire column, row, or range of nonadjacent cells with dates

You can use the pop-up calendar to fill dates across a range (throttling of up to 4,000 cells). Fill table columns, rows, merged cells, nonadjacent cells, or any custom range in the same way, such as a single cell:

Select a range.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter Time' button > Calendar will be suspended.

Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter date'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl +; (semicolon).

Select a date> Isdone. The entire range is filled with the value of the selected date.

To change a date in a specific cell, click the Calendar icon to the right of the > Change the date.

How to fill a range with consecutive dates

With Popup Calendar, you can quickly fill an interval with consecutive dates (sequential days):

XLTools tab> Settings button> Date/Time tab> Check the 'Automatic date increment when I use the date selector for a cell range'> OK.

Select a range.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter Date' button > The date picker will be displayed.

Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter date'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl +; (semicolon).

Choose the start date to fill the interval>, the entire range is automatically filled with consecutive date values with 1-day increments.

How to enter date and time in a cell

Select a cell.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Date and Time' button > The Pop-up Calendar with Clock will appear next to the cell.

Or: Right-click and 'Enter date and time'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl +; (semicolon), release the keys and press Ctrl + Shift +; (semicolon).

Set the time using a scroll wheel or the Up/Down arrows> Choose a date in the Pop-up Calendar> Finished.

Notice the format of the time: is this what you wanted? You can change the default format of the pop-up calendar and the clock.

To change an entry, click the icon to the right of the > Change time and date.

How to enter only time (no date) in a cell

Use the Time selector of the Pop-up Clock to set and enter the time in cells and intervals:

Select a cell or range.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter Time' button > The Pop-up Clock will appear next to the cell.

Or: Right-click and 'Enter time'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl + Shift +; (semicolon).

Set the time using a scroll wheel or the Up/Down arrows> Enter> Finished.

How to embed a date selector in a spreadsheet

The XLTools pop-up calendar date picker cannot be embedded in the worksheets. The Popup Calendar is visible and available to other users only if they also have XLTools installed.
