What is Excel Popup Clock?

Just like inserting dates into Excel cells, entering time can be quite frustrating. Should you use AM/PM or a 24-hour format? Do you need only hours and minutes or seconds too? Will Excel display the time values exactly as you want? With this Excel time selector, you can easily manage appointments and timesheets or add a timestamp to a report.

How to enter or change the time in a cell using the Pop-up Clock

Select a cell. In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter time' > The time picker will appear next to the cell. Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter time'. Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl + Shift +; (semicolon). Set the time using a scroll wheel or the up/down arrows> Press Enter> Finished.Note the time format: is this what you wanted? Learn how to change the default time format of the Pop-up Clock.To change a time entry, click the Clock icon to the right of the cell> Change Time. The pop-up clock remembers the last time value used, so it's easier to enter the time next time.

How to fill an entire column, row, or nonadjacent cells vary over time

Use the Pop-up Clock to fill an entire interval with time values. You can enter time in table columns, rows, merged cells, nonadjacent cells, or any custom range (throttling of up to 4000 cells) in the same way, as in a single cell:

Select a range.

In the Date/Time group, click the 'Enter time' > The time picker will appear next to the cell.

Or: Right-click and choose 'Enter time'.

Or: use a shortcut - press Ctrl + Shift +; (semicolon).

Set the time using a scroll wheel or the Up/Down arrows> Press Enter> Finished. The entire interval is filled with the selected time value.

To change the time entry in a specific cell, click the Clock icon to the right of the > Change Time.
