How to use Excel Workbook Organizer

The Workbook Organizer sits conveniently on top of the Excel interface. That way, with Excel Workbook Organizer you can view workbooks, navigate through worksheets to find the correct one, and edit worksheets along the way when needed.

1. Click the 'Workbook Organizer' button> A dialog box will open:

The tree view shows all open workbooks and the list of all the worksheets they contain.

Worksheets are listed in the same order in which they are organized in a workbook.

Name, protection and visibility are indicated for each sheet.

2. You can quickly find and review all the sheets you are looking for:

Select a worksheet from the list and it will open immediately. When you select another worksheet, notice the corresponding tab open in the background.

To select multiple worksheets, hold down the Ctrl key and select the worksheets you need (or hold down the Shift key to select consecutive worksheets).

To select all sheets from the list, press the Select Sheets button> All Option. Or, click Ctrl+A.

3. The top of the window contains the Workbook Organizer tools: drop-down lists to filter worksheets and buttons for various operations (create, open, select, save, rename, delete, hide, hide, protect, sort, compare, etc.) a certain button, hover over the icon until a tooltip appears.

How to open, close, and create a new workbook with the Workbook Organizer

To open an existing workbook: Click 'Open a workbook'> Locate the workbook on your computer> Open.

To open a recent workbook: Click the arrow to the right of the Open a workbook button> Select a required file from the drop-down list of recently opened workbooks.

To create a new workbook: Click the arrow to the right of the Create New button> Workbook option.

To close an open workbook: Select the workbook in the tree view> Click Close Selected Workbook.

How to save one or more Excel workbooks at once

To save the active workbook: Click the 'Save Active Workbook' button.

To save a copy of the active workbook with a different name: Click the arrow to the right of the 'Save Active Workbook' button> Save Active Folder As option> Save the file to your computer.

To save all open workbooks: Click the arrow to the right of the Save Active Workbook button> Save All Workbooks option> If you have new, unsaved workbooks, the add-in prompts you to save them to your computer, one after the other.

How to filter many worksheets and quickly find the one you need

With Excel Workbook Organizer youcan filter sheets in a tree view to find a required worksheet:

Filter by name:

Start typing the name of the worksheet (or part of the name) in the search box> Worksheets are automatically filtered as you type> Select the required worksheet.

Filter by property (visible / hidden / very hidden, unprotected / protected):use the corresponding drop-down filters> Sheets are automatically filtered> Select the required worksheet.

How to: Rename Worksheets in a Workbook

Select the worksheet you want to rename> Click the 'Rename a worksheet' button> Enter a new name> Note that the tab changes its name accordingly.

Or simply double-click and rename the worksheet.

Or, click F2 and rename the worksheet.

How to: Delete or Create New Worksheets with the Workbook Organizer

To delete a worksheet: Select one or multiple worksheets in the tree view> Click the 'Delete Sheet(s)' button or use the Delete key> Confirm.

To add a new worksheet: Click the Create New Worksheet button> A new blank worksheet appears> Rename and replace the worksheet if necessary.

To add multiple worksheets: Click the 'Create New Sheet' button, consequently as many times as necessary.

How to: Reorder and Sort Sheets in a Workbook

As you reorder the sheets, watch the tabs change position accordingly.

To change the position of one or more sheets:

Select the sheets you want to move> Drag and drop to another position in the same or another open workbook.

Or use the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

To easily sort multiple worksheets alphabetically:

Select the worksheets you want to sort> Click the 'A-Z' or 'Z-A' button.

Tip: You can apply sorting to all sheets as well as only selected sheets. Hold down the Ctrl key to select nonadjacent sheets.

How to: Show, Hide, or Hide One or Multiple Worksheets at a Time

To unhide worksheets: Select hidden (or very hidden) worksheets> Click the 'View Sheets' button> The worksheets are now visible.

To hide sheets: Select visible sheets> Click the 'Hide sheet(s)' button> The sheets are now hidden.

To make sheets too hidden: Select sheets> Click the arrow to the right of the Hide Sheet(s) button> Make too hidden option> The leaves are now very hidden.
