What is FlexPDE 7?

Imagine being able to type your system of partial differential equations, add a description of the problem domain, and instantly convert this problem specification into a sophisticated finite element model, including:

  • One, two, or three spatial dimensions
  • Automatic mesh construction
  • Dependent time, steady state, or autovalues
  • Flexible integrated graphic output
  • Adaptive mesh dynamic refinement
  • Dynamic timestep control
  • Nonlinear equation solver
  • Unlimited equation complexity
  • Unlimited number of simultaneous equations
  • Multiple Equation Sets
  • Complex, vector, and matrix variables and equations
  • Regionally Inactive Variables
  • Arbitrary moving mesh of Lagrange / Eulerian
  • Export capability for third-party views
  • Multithreading support for multi-core processors
  • CAD surface mesh import installation
  • Parameter optimizer

Adaptive Mesh Refinement

FlexPDE continuously monitors solution accuracy and adapts finite element mesh to address these high-error areas.

You don't need a dense mesh throughout the domain, because FlexPDE will find the areas that need it and put it there. FlexPDE adapts the mesh in front of the wave.

Lagrange/Arbitrary Euleriana Mobile Mesh

FlexPDE allows the definition of mesh motion equations and applies an Arrangerary Lagrange/Eulerian (ALE) formulation.

This allows for several optional behaviors:

  • By locking the mesh at fluid speed, you can create a fully Lagrangeano model.
  • You can define a relaxed mesh within moving boundaries to maintain the integrity of the mesh.
  • By omitting the moving equations of the mesh, you can perform a fully Eulerian computation.

In any case, FlexPDE automatically corrects the PDE system to represent mesh movement.

System requirements:

  • 32-bit versions of FlexPDE will perform equally well on 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
  • 64-bit versions of FlexPDE require a 64-bit computer, such as AMD64 or Intel Xeon or Pentium with EM64T extensions.

Windows platform-specific:

  • In Windows XP and 32-bit Vista, the addressable memory limit is 2 GB.
  • For 64-bit versions of Windows, the addressable memory limit for 32-bit FlexPDE is 4 GB.
  • The memory addressing capability for 64-bit FlexPDE is effectively unlimited.
