Genstat is a general statistics software package for education and research. Flexible, easy-to-use Genstat can be applied to any search field. The user interface contains comprehensive menus to guide non-technical users to use statistics correctly and effectively. It also has a powerful programming language that can be used to develop new techniques and complicated experiments. Genstat offers a wide variety of statistical procedures, data management and graphical capabilities. It features powerful spreadsheets for storing and manipulating data and an attractive graphical viewer that allows users to edit and interact with their charts.

  • Illustrate data with charts such as histograms, boxplots, scatter charts, line charts, truss charts, contours, and three-dimensional surface charts
  • Smitand and compare data with tabular reports, set distributions, and standard tests, such as t-tests and various nonparametric tests
  • Generate reports, including information in languages other than English, such as Chinese and Thai
  • Transform data using a general calculation facility with a wide range of mathematical and statistical functions
  • Model relationships between linear or nonlinear regression variables, generalized linear models, generalized additive models, generalized mixed linear models, or hierarchical generalized linear models
  • Analyze experiments, ranging from one-sided variance analysis to complex projects with multiple sources of error variation, using a balanced ANOVA or REML approach (including modeling correlation structures)
  • Design investigations that decide on the sample size, or number of repetitions, necessary to detect the effects of early treatment;
  • Identify patterns in data through multivariate techniques, such as canonical variable analysis, principal component analysis, principal coordinate analysis, correspondence analysis, partial least squares, classification trees and cluster analysis;
  • Analyze results of stratified or unstructured research;
  • Plot control charts, print Pareto tables, and calculate capacity statistics;
  • Analyze time series, using Box-Jenkins models or spectral analysis;
  • Analyze repeated measures, by analysis of variance, or using ante dependency structure, or modeling the correlation over time;

Spatial patterns analysis, using Kriging or spatial point processes. These techniques are useful in agriculture, ecology, genetics, medical research and other areas of biology, as well as in industrial research and quality control, and economic and social surveys; in fact, in any field of research, business, government or education where statistics are used.
