What is GrandVJ 2?

The GrandVJ 2 comes with a new interface, making it even simpler and easier to use VJ software, while integrating new features into it.

Quicktime e 64 Bits

Because all apps are now 64-bit and Apple doesn't provide QuickTime in 64-bit, GrandVJ now uses FFmpeg to read all QuickTime codecs.

There is no longer a need to install QuickTime on Windows. In earlier versions of GrandVJ, QuickTime was used to play prores-encoded video.

Manipulate, shoot, and mix music videos with sounds, animated text sequences, or live cameras in the same way you mix songs to create a spectacular audio-visual show. GrandVJ can blend up to 16 layers with a vast library of video effects, transitions, and sound-driven visual generators.

Crossfading A/B mode with independent viewing makes it an incredibly flexible VJ software for playing live, and the Browser Preview feature lets you view visuals, effects, transitions and sources before sending them to the output, just as a DJ previews your next track on your headphones.

Works with all MIDI settings and controllers

GrandVJ runs on PC and Mac and accepts all common video and image formats. Its intuitive interface allows you to turn your keyboard into a supercontroller to scroll through the functions. GrandVJ's learning mode makes it easy to set up any MIDI controller, and with support for the network-based OSC protocol, you can even control GrandVJ with an iPhone or iPad.

VJs and DJs reunited with timecode and TrackDJ

Timecode is an important way to sync the video. GrandVJ supports audio-encoded SPMTE timecode and Art-Net timecode. Timecode on Art-Net in GrandVJ is extended to include BPM and artist/track name information, and thanks to this, it is now very easy for GrandVJ to keep track of the creative work in real time of the DJs while they are playing live. Here is a list of some interesting possibilities:

• The visuals are automatically following the song the DJ is playing.
• The visuals are precisely in sync with the music (lip-sync, subtitles).
• Visuals are automatically following the song the DJ is playing.
• The visuals can pulse automatically and precisely at the rhythm of the music.
• DJ has immediate control over visual performance by changing track, BPM and running loops.

The first to adopt TrackDJ is ShowKontrol, which allows GrandVJ to communicate with the top level of Pioneer DJ players, which are one of the industry's standard universal brands. ShowKontrol supports Pioneer's most popular and powerful DJ players, including nxs2 and TOUR1 ranges and upfront.

TrackDJ is also supported by Mixxx, the popular free open source DJ software app, which has been updated by ArKaos to send trackdj information.

VJs and musicians gathered in MIDI

The ArKaosConnect plug-in allows GrandVJ to receive sound and MIDI from any AUDIO sequencer compatible with VST plug-ins, running on the same machine or on another machine on the network. Incredibly easy to set up, the plug-in automatically sets up!

For VJs, ArKaosConnect allows a new level of interaction with musicians. For musicians, ArKaosConnect makes it fun and easy to add a video track to the compositions during the live performance.

Easy VJ software

GrandVJ is very easy to customize to each user's preferred configuration. The interface can be modified quickly to meet individual needs and preferences.

Mapping MIDI controllers with the new learning mode is easy, such as pressing keys on your device, but you can also import preset presets to the most common MIDI controllers.

Compose with Quartz

On top of that, Mac OS X users can mix quartz compositions (.qtz files) as fonts with all other visuals, but also as effects, with GrandVJ automatically mapping composition entries as effects parameters.

GrandVJ comes preloaded with a set of great quartz compositions from selected artists, you can easily find tons of other.qtz files out there on the web and of course you can use your own compositions created with Apple's Quartz Composer, which enables virtually endless views on GrandVJ.

Do you need any footage?

The VJ software installer that you can download from this site already comes with some SD video loops to get you started. The boxed version contains the same installer, but adds an additional DVD-Rom with 4.53 GB of HQ video images ready to be mixed in vj software.
