The Hardware and Software Inventory provides you, as an administrator, with an automated, detailed overview of all the assets you need for managing individual server systems, complex IT infrastructures, or entire data centers.
Inventory of the entire network
Based on the comprehensive inventory of your network, Hardware and Software Inventory provides you, as an administrator, with an automated, detailed overview of all the assets you need for managing individual server systems, complex IT infrastructures, or entire data centers. Network inventory optimally accompanies this in the acquisition, installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and service of your network components and is the foundation for reliable IT documentation and license management for your business.
The Hardware and Software Inventory network inventory is agentless and covers Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices, as well as all SNMP-enabled devices such as printers and switches. This gives you a complete overview of all the hardware and software on your network.
What can be part ofthe Hardware and Software Inventory?
Network devices
Switches, routers, and printers
Inside the LAN, but also externally
You can use the Offline Agent to inventory field staff laptops, for example.
Virtualization
VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, XenServer
Microsoft Exchange Server
On-premises or in the cloud: organization, databases, mailboxes
Databases
Database inventory and access rights
Active Directory
Computer accounts, user accounts with recursive group membership resolution
Mobile devices
Smartphones and tablets connected via Exchange Active Sync
Add devices manually
Manage devices in the Hardware and Software Inventory that do not have a network interface, such as projectors!
Permissions
Who has what kind of access to shares, folders, and databases? Who has administrator rights on which devices?
What data does the Hardware and Software Inventory collect?
Depending on the type of device, different data is available for evaluation. For example, a MAC address table is available for switches, but no software inventory.
Hardware Inventory: The following values, for example, can be read from your network's IT inventory
Software Inventory: When collecting data from clients and servers, the following information about the existing software may be displayed
Configuration analysis: The IT inventory of all network components shows the status of the firewall, antivirus, and antispyware, as well as the following data
User-Related Data: LOGINventory can display a variety of information related to the user's account, which greatly simplifies user management
How to take inventory?
The Hardware and Software Inventory offers different methods of collecting all the data so that all the details of your company's network are available for evaluation. All methods follow one goal: simple, automated information retrieval from all relevant devices.
Agentless network inventory
The Hardware and Software Inventory can, for example, use IP address ranges to scan the agentless network and collect all the information. For this, the device to be verified must support a remote interface (for example, Windows APIs, SSH, SNMP) and an account must be stored in LOGINventory that has the right to query the data. These scans can be automated, so that depending on the schedule, the acquisition is fully automated and you don't have to worry about anything.
Acquisition via logon script
Alternatively, data can also be captured using a logon script without an agent. To do this, only the call of a scan file should be placed in the computer's logon script. The computers are then captured in the context of the user as soon as a user logs on. Data transfer occurs automatically.
Agent-based inventory of laptops outside the LAN
To inventory field staff laptops in offsite locations without a VPN connection, Hardware and Software Inventory can write to the computers with the help of an agent and transfer the data, for example, via HTTPS.
Acquisition via USB stick
Particularly suitable for single recording: When running a scan file that is copied to a USB stick, the devices are scanned in approximately 30 seconds. The collected data can then be imported into the corresponding database and made available for evaluation.
How can inventory data be evaluated?
For efficient management of your company's network, it's essential to get the data you really need quickly and easily. The software solution offers several evaluation options for this purpose.
Double click
Would you like to know what applications are available on a computer, how many memory slots are occupied, or who has administrator rights there? When you double-click the computer name, you're at your destination. All details can be viewed, filtered and exported directly in the Hardware and Software Inventory interface.
Queries
With the large number of consultations available, we have already made several evaluations available throughout the network. Do you want to see other columns? Customize the query! Do you just want to see the devices from a certain location in the assessment? Define your own filter conditions and also use self-defined fields such as cost center or purchase date!
Tasks and notifications
Do you want to know about all the important changes, even if LOGINventory is not open? Set your own tasks and notifications, and get notified by email if there are few licenses, new devices are found on the network, critical events occur, or antivirus software is no longer up to date. Or have reports archived automatically.
Graphical view of the network
With Topology View, you can create a graphical overview of the network. You can see which device is connected to which port, which virtual machines are running on which hosts, and how the switches are connected.
Reporting
In Reports, data is presented in a prepared manner so that important information can be captured quickly. LOGINventory comes with a plethora of predefined reports, for example, for client documentation, server documentation, authorization analysis, or compliance reporting. All reports can be customized, and of course you can create your own report templates.
Change log
With the help of change history, you can see when what has changed on which device. When were the hotfixes installed? Where was another screen connected? When were the USB devices removed? Assessments can be performed for individual computers, but also for the entire network.
