What is Highstock?

Highstock allows you to create actions or charts of general timelines in "Pure JavaScript", including sophisticated navigation options such as a small navigation series, predefined time intervals, data selection, scrolls, and offsets.

Compatibility

Highstock is compatible with all modern mobile phone browsers, including Apple products like iPhone and iPad, and fixed workstations like Desktop PC and Labtop.

Its compatibility also includes browsers; Internet explorer from version 6, Android, iOS.

"Multitouch" support providing the user with a smooth and continuous experience. Standard browsers use SVG for graphics retribution.

In older internet browsers, graphics are deployed using VML.

Open source

One of the key features of Highstock is the permission given to the user, with paid or free licenses, to download the source code and edit it according to their needs, adding greater flexibility in custom modifications.

Pure JavaScript

Highstock is based solely on native browser technologies and does not require plungins such as Flash or Java. Also, the user does not need to install anything on their server, nor PHP or ASP or .net.

In summary, Highstock only requires "JavaScript" file to work.

Types of numeric charts

Highstock supports the types of line charts, stacked line, columns, scatter, OHLC, "Candlestick, flags, area variation, stacked area variation, and columnar variation.

You can also use combinations of these in a single chart.

"SYNTAX" of simple configuration

Setting the Highstock configuration options requires no special programming skills. The options are given in "JavaScript" (JSON) data structure, which is basically a set of values and legends interconnected by colons, separated by commins and grouped by brackets.

Dynamics

Using a full API, the user can add, remove and/or modify series and points or even modify the axes at any time after the chart is created.

Many events provide continuous help (it is not possible to write help hooks) to the user in the programming of charts, establishing a variety of solutions such as graphics in auto-update (Live Charts), connected to databases on servers continuously stocked with new data (e.g. industrial production updates and goals).

Range selector

When navigating large data sets, sometimes with time intervals over multiple years, it is important to have in your graphics library an option that provides an easy and quick way to focus on a certain and defined time interval. Highstock provides this possibility for the user by providing a range selector where the user can zoom in on pre-selected time ranging from one month, a year, or even annual accrued time. You can also select the ranges manually.

Scrollbar and the Navigator

It's another more visual way to navigate the dataset by dragging the placement bar or dragging the edges of the navigation window to the special area of interest.

Event marking flags

Using a specific type of data series called "Flags", the user can add event markers and annotations directly related to an area of interest in the data series. The user can add different visual styles to the markers by differentiating them, and can also add them to the graph or X-axis.

Multiple axes

Often, a comparison of variables, which are not on the same scale, is required and necessary, such as plotting temperatures verses rainfall precipitation and atmospheric pressure. Highstock allows the user to assign a y-axis for each data series, or even an x-axis for each data category if you want to compare multiple datasets on the same chart.

Each axis is free to be put by the user to the right or left, top or bottom of the plot area.

All options can be set individually including reversals, styles and positions.

Hovering the charts, "Highstock" allows the user to display text with hints in "TOOLTIOP" containing information about each point and/or data series, which changes in sequence according to the pointer position on the chart with reading accuracy to the nearest point as well as ease of reading to points located below others.

Date/time axis

75 of all x-axis and y-axis charts contain an x-axis date/time. Therefore, Highstock is structured very intelligently regarding the measures of time. With axes in millisecond units, Highstock determines where to position ticks in such a way that they will always be marking the beginning of the month or week, midnight, or noon, hour per hour.

Data grouping

If the data arrangement consists of 100,000 points or more, it would not be effective to calculate the positions moved for each point separately and show the entire arrangement on the chart that is commonly 800 px wide. "Highstocks Data Grouping" is used in this context by grouping, very quickly, the data into optional groups such as months or days, for example, and displaying them. It is obvious that by zooming in at smaller intervals, the grouping is redone and the user can inspect the data in full resolution.

Export and Print

With the export module enabled/enabled, the user can export the graphics in PNG, JPG, PDF or SVG formats with single click, or print the graphic directly from the web page.

Zooming & PANNING

In addition to controlling the zoom and panoramic view of the scrollbar and i browser, the user has the option to set the zoom and panoramic view "Panning" using the mouse or the deto.

Loading external data

The Input of highstock external data is determined as "JavaScript Array", the definition of which can be determined on local configuration objects, in separate files, or even from another site. In addition, the data can be handled and included in Highstock in any form, and then a "call-back" function is used to sort the data into "JavaScript Array".
