What is Hydromagic?

Very affordable with easy use

Hydromagic is a professional hydrographic research package, which can be used for mapping deep areas using a probe.

The Software is very accessible and the learning curve is very short. You'll create your first sound in a single day.

Some examples of functions

  • Records sound data using a probe (hydrography) and a GPS or RTK receiver.
  • Calculates section volumes of rivers, wells, ponds, lakes and reservoirs, for example, in the mining industry.
  • Creates depth contours and saves them as AutoCAD DXF or Google Earth KML and KMZ files.
  • Creates a regularly spaced grid from sound data and exports it as DXF, KML, or ASCII files.
  • Calculates tide levels using an RTK receiver, using a supplied antenna height and a loaded geoide model.
  • Uses the built-in coordinate calculator for converting hydrographic data files between different map projections.

Properties

Support for GPS and RTK receivers

The software communicates with almost any GPS or RTK receiver (NMEA0183 compatible) to recover your current position and height and shows them in one of the scanning or vector support maps. In addition, with an RTK receiver, you can calculate tide levels in real time.

Support for other sensors

In addition to GPS and the probe, it is also compatible with other sensors such as tidal receiver, magnetometer, motion or tilt sensor, steering sensor (compass) or an AIS receiver.

Support for echosounders

Hydromagic supports a wide range of single- and dual-frequency hydrographic probe professionals from popular brands such as cee nlHydroSystems, Odom, STN Atlas, SyQwest and more.

Geodesy

Displaying a part of the globe on a screen requires a map projection to avoid distorting map data. The software comes with a database containing more than 5000 reference points and predefined local and global map grids for this.

Top 10 tools and features

  • Built in raw data editor. Corrects your raw data with echogram editor, position editor, table editor, filtering, latency correction, and more.
  • Generates one or more depth contours such as map overlay, and these maps can be exported as AutoCad DXF and Google KML files.
  • Generates regularly spaced XYZ data (arrays) using triangulation and interpolation.
  • Creates channel projects and shows cross-sections of the channel.
  • Calculates volumes using Digital Terrain Models (DTM) or cross sections.
  • Automatic correction (RTK) or manual tide correction.
  • Built in map download tool, you can download maps to the search area of Google Earth, Bing Maps or OpenStreetMaps.
  • Map calibration, uses its own downloaded or digitized GIF, PNG, BMP, JPG and TIF maps.
  • Dataview to display all information received from GPS, probe and other sensors.
  • Contour editor and manual insertion of surveys or levels for places you can not access with a boat.

System requirements:

  • The only requirement is that your computer has to work with Windows XP or higher.
