What is Jaws ?

JAWS, Access to Work with Speech, is the world's most popular screen reader, designed for computer users whose loss of vision prevents them from viewing screen content or navigating with the mouse. JAWS provides speech and braille output for your PC's most popular computer applications. You can browse the Internet, write a document, read an email, and create presentations in the office, remote desktop, or at home.

What is a screen reader? A screen reader is a software program that allows a blind or visually impaired user to read text that is displayed on the computer screen with a speech synthesizer or braille display.

To use JAWS for Windows, you need a personal computer running Microsoft Windows with the following:

JAWS Home Edition and JAWS Professional Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2008

Processor speed: Minimum processor of 1.5 GHz

Memory (RAM): 4 GB recommended (64-bit) 2 GB recommended (32-bit)

Hard drive space required: 20 MB to 690 MB per voice is required to install vocalizer expressive, vocalizer direct, or realspeak solo direct voices (file size varies depending on voice installed)

Video: A video adapter with screen resolution of at least 800 x 600 with 16-bit colors (1024 x 768 screen resolution with recommended 32-bit color)
