After your setup program is packaged in an MSI package, you can deploy it using Group Policy Objects (GPO) or System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
Silent installation and uninstall
If your exe supports silent installation, you can also make your MSI silent. You can add parameters to your exe when it is started by MSI Wrapper.
Product ownership control
When you build your MSI package, you can specify the properties of the package. Properties include information such as product name, manufacturer, icon, version, reviews, and more.
Single entry into installed programs
Windows can show a list of installed programs. This is where the user usually goes to uninstall a program. The MSI Wrapper will replace the original entry of the packaged configuration and make sure that the packaged program and MSI are uninstalled correctly.
Elevation level control
Some installers require elevation in certain circumstances and others do not. With the MSI housing, you can choose the elevation level that best suits your packaged installer.
Per-user and per-machine installations
Both "per user" and "per-machine" installation types are supported. This is used to control whether an installed program is available to all users on the machine or just the user who is installing it.
Restart stop-and-tell
Most installers can signal to the operating system that a reboot is required to complete the installation. With this tool, you can map a packaged installer output code to make the MSI package signal the need for a restart.
Batch mode and build script integration
The construction of your MSI package can be automated. This is useful if you are a software developer and want to integrate MSI Wrapper into your build scripts.
Pass parameters
Even after MSI is created, you can dynamically change the parameters that the packaged installer receives. Using a special command-line option in MSI, you can pass parameters to the grouped configuration.
Smart uninstall (multiple application IDs)
Some executable installers create multiple entries in the list of installed Windows programs. Using the MSI Wrapper, you can have the uninstall process remove all relevant components. This creates a cleaner removal process and improves the overall quality of MSI.
Outbound code mapping
Executable installers often return an exit code. An output code loads information about the result of the installation process. Installers can produce different output codes. There is no pattern that determines which code to return in specific situations. Therefore, MSI Wrapper has a feature that allows you to map these custom output codes to meaningful Windows Installer code.
Include files
Some executable installers require the presence of other files in the same folder as the executable installer. This is compatible with the "Include Files" feature, which compresses all directory files and executable installer subdirectories. All of these files are extracted at the time of installation.
UI-level-based parameters
An MSI package can run with different Levels of User Interface. It can be run in normal mode, where a UI is shown, or in silent mode, where the installation is fully automated. Based on the running MSI UI level, you can send different parameters to your packaged executable. In this way, the packaged installer can adapt to the Windows Installer UI level.
Run the command line before and after installation
You can have the MSI package run a command before or after the grouped configuration is installed. This means that you can run any command line to prepare for installation or perhaps clean up after installation. You may have included a batch script that you want to run.

This tool was originally built to involve an executable installation program. However, you can also use it to package and run a simple batch script. A batch script can be used to start any other type of script, such as PowerShell, JavaScript, VB Script, or Python.
