What is Network Documentation?

Complete IT documentation can be performed with LOGINventory. Thanks to agentless inventory, all relevant information can be collected in a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and made available for evaluation. In this way, you document the current state and all previous changes in the form of multiple reports, charts, and queries.

LOGINventory therefore meets IT standards such as ITIL, ISO 20000/27001 certification, or the options required by basic BSI protection for creating up-to-date IT documentation. The particular charm of LOGINventory lies in the fact that most reports can be created fully automatically by pressing a button without any user intervention. Only the creation of an IT emergency manual or an operating manual requires company-specific knowledge and therefore must be adapted individually. All reports, including those provided, can be tailored to your needs in the user interface, so that IT documentation can be performed according to your own requirements.

LOGINventory offers several options for IT documentation. All recorded values, including change history, can be evaluated and exported directly into the software solution UI. This includes, for example, routing tables, switch port assignments, server roles. In addition, reports can be created that show selected inventory data together, for example, to document the hardware, software, or configuration of IT assets. LOGINventory provides many predefined reports for this purpose, which can be used, for example, to document clients, server documentation, view user access rights. There are also specialized reports that show group memberships in a recursive manner, show partition allocation graphically, or generate QR codes to mark inventory. Each of these reports can be adapted directly to LOGINventory so that, for example, the values you have saved yourself can be integrated into the documentation.

Creation of IT emergency manuals, operating manuals

LOGINventory offers another form of reporting for IT documentation: dynamic documents. They are used to include data and tables in ran text (similar to Microsoft Word) for IT documentation. For this purpose, relevant inventory values can be placed in the document using drag and drop and adjustments such as grouping, sorting. can be done. In addition, continuous text, graphics. can be inserted.

IT graphic documentation

With LOGINventory you can view the entire network or only the relevant subareas in an IT graphic documentation. For this, all registered assets are displayed as nodes in the topology, and it is always clear which switch they are connected to through which port. Additionally, hosts with running virtual machines and unmanageable switches can also be displayed here. This chart can also be exported in Visio format and later edited there.

License inventory documentation

License inventory, license costs, and software compliance can also be documented in reports. For this purpose, the corresponding reports documenting the stored licenses are provided, as well as various indexes, for example, on the use of the software.

LOGINventory also provides out-of-the-box reports that are required for Microsoft audits, called the Microsoft Deployment Summary. The values and indexes queried in it are automatically generated at the touch of a button using the acquisition data, so tedious searching for the number of Office and Windows licenses is a thing of the past.

IT documentation automation
