What is Option APL - Air Pollutants?

Option APL software allows the calculation, evaluation and presentation of the distribution of air pollutants in accordance with the relevant European guidelines. The results obtained can serve as a basis for planning actions in relation to air pollution mitigation plans.

APL option combines cadnaa's user-friendly interface with the AUSTAL2000 dispersion model, which is state-of-the-art air pollution modeling. Using CadnaA PCSP (Program Controlled Segmented Processing) technology for fully automatic distribution, distribution and processing of projects on a network, e. dispersion maps for traffic-induced pollutants can be calculated for a project of any size.

Fields of application

Calculation of the emission of air pollutants in cities and urban areas

Prognosis of air pollutant emissions and emission to assess road traffic mitigation plans

Evaluation of measures in the context of noise and air quality mitigation plans

Prognosis of emission and emission of air pollutants from industrial sources

Characteristics

The software has:

Maps showing the distribution of air pollutants to different components (e.g. PM10 fine particles, NO2, NOX, SO2, benzene)

Weather time series with time-dependent emission from point, line and area sources

Standardized emission factors for road traffic

Calculation of high-resolution pollutant dispersion including buildings and terrain using noise mapping data

Large area calculation using powerful PCSP technology

Arithmetic Grid: superposition of emission maps of various types of emission sources

Calculation of the impact of plant-specific emissions in the vicinity, including the effect of thermal reinforcement (also when emitted by cooling towers)

System Requirements

The calculation of large-scale projects, as well as very detailed projects, is limited in 32-bit software by a maximum addressable main memory of 2 GB. But with the 64-bit version of CadnaA, this limitation no longer exists! Option 64 increases the total volume of processable data by a factor of 4,000,000,000. Even noise maps of entire countries or large 1m networks can be calculated very quickly and conveniently.

Support for up to 64 GB of RAM leads to a huge improvement in performance. Extensive calculations and analysis can now be done in a single run, rather than one by one, as is the case with 32-bit software. This is possible because the 64-bit CadnaA handles a large amount of data (for example, terrain model, all buildings, detailed grids) within a single project file. Project partitioning, overlay calculation, and consolidation of calculated sections are no longer needed. The handling of the project therefore becomes much more efficient, faster and simple.

Because the most complex and large-scale projects can benefit from using the 64-bit version of CadnaA, a hardware configuration with 4 GB or more of memory is recommended. The requirements are a 64-bit extension processor (x86-64, EM64T, Intel64, AMD64) and a 64-bit Windows operating system.
