What is a standalone database?

A standalone database is a cloud database that uses machine learning to eliminate human work associated with tweaks, security, backups, updates, and other routine database management tasks traditionally performed by database administrators (DBAs).

How does it work?

Compared to traditional database technology, a standalone database cloud has greater availability, more security, and reduced operating costs.

Other terms associated with the standalone database sector are independence, self-repair, and self-protection.

• Independence means that the database automatically provisions or implements databases; in addition to monitoring, backup, recover, and troubleshoot these databases. It also means that processing or storage increases or decreases instantly and without downtime.
• Self-protection refers to the detection and correction of AI-enabled threats, along with automatic data encryption. A self-protected database also automatically applies security patches.
• Self-repaired databases are automatically protected from inactivity. With up to 99.995% availability, a self-repaired database experiences less than 2.5 minutes of downtime per month, including planned maintenance.
