Step-by-step instructions for Windows
- Make sure you are using the latest version of QIF2OFX. Download it from the QIF2OFX download page. Start QIF2OFX and select a QIF file.
- Review transactions before conversion, make sure the dates are correct, if the year is correct, if deposits and cashouts are in the correct places.
- Set the TARGET OFX to match your accounting software or use 'Regular OFX' as the default setting.
- Set the account ID (number) and account type. For multiple accounts, use a different account ID for each account.
- The currency must be USD, even for non-USD accounts, for the U.S. Quickbooks edition For the Canadian edition, you can use USD and CAD. And for the UK edition, the GBP currency must be set. Also check Final balance, bank ID and agency ID.
- Set 'Open after conversion' to open the application that handles converted files and start importing right after the conversion.
- Click the 'Convert' button to create an OFX file.
- Confirm the name and location of the file.
- Now that the OFX file has been created, switch to Quickbooks Online and import the created OFX file. Look for 'Banking' and click on it.
- And then select the account in which you want to import your data.
- Click the 'File Upload' button. In your accounting software, look for 'Import an extract', 'Upload a bank file' or similar links to upload the created OFX file.
- Then click 'Browse' to find your OFX file. And click 'Next'.
- Then select an account in Quickbooks to import and click 'Next'.
- After transactions are imported, you can review, categorize them into the account, and add them to the record.
- Select Beneficiary (vendor records) and Category (expense accounts/revenues).
