RISK (pronounced "at risk") is an add-in for Microsoft Excel that allows you to analyze risk using Monte Carlo simulation. RISK shows virtually every possible outcome for any given situation – and indicates the likelihood that they will occur. System Requirements
If you can run Microsoft Office on a Windows machine, you can run Palisade software. That said, the more RAM the better, a faster processor is good, and more CPUs (for RISK simulations) are generally good.
There is an interaction between a sufficient amount of RAM and the number of CPUs (colors) used by RISK in a simulation. Each core in a multi-CPU simulation runs its own copy of Excel, so the more cores you use, the more RAM you need. If you run your simulation with multiple CPUs enabled, more cores will usually be good; with multiple CPUs disabled, you're only using one core and want it to be as fast as possible. If you're using only one core, make sure you have that amount of RAM (plus 1 GB or more for Windows), and if you're using multiple cores, multiply that amount of RAM by the number of cores.
