What is S-Life ?

S-Life FKM is a static and fatigue-resistance software for the evaluation of FEA results according to FKM guidelines.

S-Life FKM is a software that allows an easy and automatic evaluation of fem simulation results, according to the German guidelines of fkm. The software is used as a postprocessor. With The S-Life FKM pressing a button, the computed voltages will be processed in such a way that a static resistance and fatigue assessment is performed in accordance with FKM guidelines. The scope of application is restricted to steel, cast iron and aluminum materials. As a result of the evaluation, static and cyclic utilization rates will be displayed as a contour plot.

Key features and benefits

Resources

  • Interface Altair H3D-, ABAQUS-, ANSYS
  • Viewer for evaluation of results
  • Integrated and extensible material database with more than 1500 classes
  • Automatic identification of critical combinations of load cases
  • Evaluation of static and fatigue resistance for non-welded parts, according to FKM guidelines, based on the concept of local resistance
  • Output of static and cyclic utilization rates as contour plot
  • Comprehensive report of nodal computing results according to FKM guidelines
  • Consolidation of results of different FEA in a single model

Benefits

  • Distinct strength assessment through systematic approach
  • Use of plastic reserves through the consideration of stress gradients
  • Comprehensive documentation of strength assessment results via full numerical report for the reference point
  • Significant time savings compared to manual evaluation of individual node values
  • Failure prevention through easy and automated use
  • Easy identification of the critical hot spot through the contour plot of utilization rates on the component surface
  • Significant time savings by automated determination of the combination of critical load cases if multiple loads are applied
