What is Schema Compare for Oracle Databases?

Schema Comparison for Oracle Databases is a tool added to the Oracle toolset, which allows you to compare objects in Oracle schemas. With more than 100 options, to adjust your operations, a proprietary snapshot for offline schema comparison, an extensive registry, and advanced, version-specific scripting features, it is specifically designed to handle the complexity of Oracle schemas. A simple user interface with automatic session management allows you to re-perform the most important comparations with just one click. The built-in command-line utility can be used for standalone comparations, while a step-by-step wizard allows you to manage command line settings easily and efficiently.

Requirements

The comparison scheme for Oracle runs on windows, client, and server operating systems, which have the .NET framework installed.

Resources

User interface - the user interface, the same as used also by our comparison tools, is designed for speed and simplicity - a context-sensitive ribbon, action panels with clear descriptions, and context-sensitive menus provide quick and easy paths to complete multiple tasks in the minimum amount of time. The results of the comparison are displayed in a well-organized way in a highly customizable window, making it easy to see what the differences between Oracle objects are.

Comparison framework - designed specifically for Oracle and extensively tested, the main comparison engine is efficient, easily configurable and scalable. A robust Oracle comparison module, built on it, supports most objects and all versions of Oracle, up to Oracle 19c.

Schema Snapshot - Not only allows you to maintain a history (audit trail) of schema changes, but also provides an efficient and secure way to roll back schema changes when needed. Simply compare the schema with a snapshot of yourself, taken just before the changes, and generate the script to roll back the changes.

One-click comparison - Schema comparison maintains a complete history of comparison sessions, including Oracle schemas, their credentials, comparison options, deleted objects, schema filters, and more. By doing this, you can repeat a comparison with a single click. You can change the way sessions are managed through schema comparison application settings.

Standardized and secure scripts - The change script, generated by the comparison engine, includes warnings and a synchronization log that monitors object change. The script engine version-aware operation principle ensures that the change script contains only the features supported by the target Oracle schema.

Oracle Connections - a simple and consistent interface, allows the comparison of schemas to provide three types of connections: basic connection, easy-to-connect descriptor, or connection. Built-in parameters control other connection settings, such as timeouts, proprietary Oracle settings, and a few more.

Command-line utility - The highly configurable command line allows you to perform standalone operations or schedule them through Windows or other third-party schedulers. A compact xml configuration file provides the command line with all comparison settings, requiring nothing else.

Command-line wizard - The wizard allows you to manage the command-line configuration files through a simple, step-by-step interface. You can even create command-line settings from a UI comparison session with just one click. The wizard hides the complexity of command-line configuration while creating consistent, optimized, and always-upxml configuration files.

Full control over comparison - a comparison tool doesn't have many options for customizing your operations, especially in a complex database like Oracle. The schema comparison exposes more than 100 comparison options that control all the scripting capabilities of Oracle objects. Options are organized into categories such as comparison options, script options, execution options, and advanced options.

Error handling - systematic error handling aims to eliminate unexpected/unexplained results. Non-critical errors are logged, saved, and reported, but do not stop any ongoing comparison operations. Different types of logs, such as the error log and execution log, help you find the errors and eliminate them.
