What is Scherlokk ?

Scherlokk is an extremely fast file search utility for accurate and reliable search of every file that meets the search criteria. Music, photos, favorites, documents. can be found quickly and easily. The search can be done on any type of built-in volume, portable volume (pendrives, memory cards, USB drives), network drive (AFP, SMB, FTP).

It doesn't matter if the searched file is hidden or system. The file doesn't even need to be indexed by macOS to be found by Scherlokk.

When searching with size range, Scherlokk calculates and displays all the folders that fit in the range.

Why use Scherlokk instead of Spotlight:

Scherlokk searches for 'real' files instead of the Spotlight index. The index is not always up-to-date and does not contain all files.

The extremely fast search engine finds your files faster than the competition.

Scherlokk shows the search results in a flat or hierarchical view that helps you figure out which file is what you need and how the files are located in the folder structure.

What files can Scherlokk find?

Since Scherlokk is not based on the Spotlight index and has its own powerful search engine, it will find every file on any volume accessible on your computer.

Scherlokk can compare any file (text or binary) and display its differences, taking into account insertions or deletions. It uses a sophisticated algorithm to find similar blocks in both files and shows them as a list of differences.

Scherlokk has incorporated decoders for the most popular string-formatted files. This includes PDF, DOC, DOCX, RTF, RTFD, XLS, and XLSX files. All other files are searched "unprocessed".
