What is Social Network Visualizer (SocNetV)?
SocNetV is a free, cross-platform, easy-to-use software application for social network analysis and visualization.
- Draw on social networks with a few clicks on a virtual screen, upload field data from a file in a supported format (GraphML, GraphViz, Adjacency, EdgeList, GML, Pajek, UCINET) or crawl the internet to create a social network of connected web pages
- Edit actors and links through the point-and-click mechanism; analyze graphical and social media properties, produce HTML reports, and include visualization layouts on the network.
The main features are:
- Standard graph and network cohesion metrics such as density, diameter, connectivity, eccentricity, clustering coefficient, reciprocity, geodesics, and distances.
- Matrix routines: adjacency plot, laplacian matrix, degree matrix, cocitation.
- Advanced measures for the analysis of social networks, such as centrality and prestige indexes (i.e., centrality of self-vectors and proximity, centrality of information, centrality of intermediation, centrality of power, proximity and prestige of pagerank).
- Quick algorithms for detecting communities, such as triad census, click census.
- Structural equivalence analysis, using hierarchical equipment, similarities of actors and lack of these in the linkprofile, Pearson coefficient.
- Layout models based on prominence indexes (e.g., circular size, level, and nodal by centerscore) or force-directed positioning (e.g., Kamada-Kawai, Fruchterman-Reingold) for meaningful social media views.
- Uploading and networking of multiple lines with this can load a social network that consists of multiple relationships or create a social network on its own and add multiple relationships to it.
- Creation of random social networks using various random models of network generation (Barabási-Albert Scale-Free, Erdõs-Rényi, Watts-Strogatz Small-World, d-regular, ring network).
- Famous social network analysis datasets, i.e.
- Built-in web crawler to automatically create "social networks" from links found in a given initial URL.
- Comprehensive, online and in-app documentation that explains every feature and algorithm of SocNetV in detail.
System Requirements
There are installation packages and binaries for the three main operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux).
