Create beautiful melodies with these totally new sustain and legato joints and mix from light to strong vibrato. In addition, we've updated and improved all previously existing legatos variants, such as soft, fast, slumped to achieve the same gameplay as Cantabile patches.

Synchron Strings I opens a new chapter in sampled strings by combining extraordinary musicality, engineering, recording technology and software innovation. Played by members of the Synchron Stage Orchestra, recorded on our own Synchron Stage by the best engineers and backed by 17 years of sample experience - Synchron Strings I is about to set a new standard in sound, playability and realism.

Recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna

Synchron Strings I is the first String Library that was recorded with the characteristic setting of one of the best sound-scoring stages on the planet - Synchron Stage Vienna.

Since its renovation and reopening in 2016, Synchron Stage Vienna has hosted a wealth of music recordings for international films and TV productions (such as Inferno, The Crown, Lego Batman, Ghost in the Shell, The Meg, Blue Planet II), in addition to video games, commercials and classic recordings, with many more to come. The acoustics of the 540 m² (5,813 sq ft) main hall is characterized by a lush, warm sound with an average reverberation time of 1.8 seconds, while providing excellent location of all sound sources, both in depth and in stereo or immersive environment.

Multiple microphone positions

To capture the spectacular environment of synchron stage, our engineers employed eight separate phase-coherence microphone configurations, recorded simultaneously, to provide a wide range of room options during library use. Any or all of these settings can be mixed to tune just the sound you're looking for, from next and focused to wide and epic!

The sections of the first violins (14), second violins (10), violas (8), cellos (8) and basses (6) were recorded separately in their designated positions on stage. Due to the comprehensive selection of discrete audio channels, you can mix the sound of your strings in stereo, 5.1 surround or even 9.1 Auro 3D (or any other immersive audio format, such as Dolby Atmos), using the intuitive features of the new Vienna Synchron Player to customize your sound.

The beauty of simplicity

With Synchron Strings I, we achieve the ultimate in realism and expressiveness, providing a new level of ease of use.

Play short notes, long notes with multiple attacks, legatos, scalable vibrato intensities, and note repeats with a minimal need to switch joints and move only one or two preconfigured controllers.

Synchron Strings I works with our brand new Vienna Synchron Player, a dedicated sample player with an all-new engine built from the ground up. Its innovative new algorithms make it even easier to render strings with surprising realism. Combining multiple microphone positions with a variety of available speed layers and note variations for each joint requires a powerful sample mechanism. Vienna Synchron Player delivers unprecedented streaming performance, capable of triggering over 300 voices per instrument simultaneously! The new engine also includes an internal mixer with 5-band EQ, delay for runtime compensation, algorithmic reverb, phase change and panorama controls.

8 speed layers, 80 variations per key

One of the main reasons for the high realism of Synchron Strings I is the unprecedented number of speed layers and note variations. Most notes are available with 8 dynamic levels and up to 10 variations, from very pianíssimo to strong and everything else, which blend smoothly as you pass through the layers. All samples are delivered automatically while you touch and in most cases you don't even have to worry about manual key change.

We have developed a new sampling process in which all performances are recorded and edited with "fixed gain". The result is that all tones, dynamic layers, joints and instruments combine 100% perfectly with each other. For example, the articulation of a pianíssimo of a set sound exactly as it was played on the Synchron Stage and meticulously corresponds to the presentations of the pianíssimo of all other instruments.

Microphone setup

The Standard Library and The Complete Library of Synchronous Strings I include the same joints.

The main surround microphone settings can also be used in place of the room's main stereo microphones for a wider mix and ambi. Combining surround signals with other microphone signals creates a denser and more exuberant overall sound, even in stereo applications.

While Synchron Strings I are recorded "in situ" with the natural ambienvironment of the main hall of our scoring stage, you can put all our other string libraries (from Solo Strings to Chamber, Orchestral, Appassionata and Dimension Strings) into the virtual version of this same hall using Vienna MIR Pro with RoomPack 6 Synchron Stage Vienna. Create a unified sound easily by placing your existing instruments next to the musicians who were recorded on Synchron Stage!
