What is TcpMDT Standard?

Research, digital terrain model, contours, profiles and volumes.

MDT is an application that is installed as a plugin in AutoCAD, BricsCAD or ZWCAD. It offers a powerful set of tools to facilitate learning and has a modular structure.

The standard version allows you to model a terrain using points measured by any total station or GPS, generate contours, derive longitudinal and transverse profiles, calculate volumes and view the terrain in 3D. It also has functions for working with graphics and several additional utilities.

Introduction

This application is ideal for all types of topographic projects, modeling the terrain, drawing profiles, calculating volumes and viewing the terrain in 3D. Its main users are public administrations, construction companies, engineering, architecture and urban planning studies and companies involved in earthworks, quarrying, mining, environment, as well as autonomous professionals.

MDT is an application that is installed as a plugin in AutoCAD, BricsCAD or ZWCAD. It offers a powerful set of tools to facilitate learning and has a modular structure.

It shows great versatility by importing and exporting files in the most common formats such as LandXML, DWG and many more. In addition, APLITOP is a pioneer in integrating topographic and road data into OpenBIM workflows, through the IFC format and the IFC Alignment and IFC Road extensions.

  • Topographic points

The program starts operating from coordinates obtained by total stations or GNSS receivers, converting files from field applications. If TcpET or TcpGPS were used, in addition to coordinates, the raw data of the observations is imported, as are the linked photographs and voice notes.

  • Surfaces

Break lines can be defined graphically, by sequence of points, codes, or by importing files. Triangulation can be created from points, with or without break lines, and by applying maximum angle or length controls.

There are also options for minimizing flat triangles and automatic fault repair.

  • Contour lines

MDT can generate contours with a range or at special elevations, and they are automatically updated with each change in triangulation.

  • Meshes

Meshes can be created from a surface, outlines, 3D entities, or mesh files in various known formats (Arc/Info, LAS, GeoTIFF).

  • Alignments

Horizontal alignments that will be used in longitudinal profiles and cross sections can be created interactively through lines, circular or clotoid arc segments and polylines, numeric input, or import files in the most common business formats.

  • Profiles

Longitudinal profiles and cross sections can be calculated from a surface, 3D cartography or by regression of points close to alignment.

  • Volumes

Cut and fill volumes can be calculated from a comparison between meshes, surfaces, or cross sections.

  • Images

MDT has commands to insert georeferenced images and orthophotographs in their actual position on the terrain and assign them to a surface, or assign predefined textures to surfaces and place photos in position at their actual location on the map.

  • Maps

MDT can draw a 3-D mesh based on contours or surface and maps of heights, slopes, orientations or visibility of a point can be generated

  • Plots

This menu includes options for creating and editing graphics and buildings. It also has tools for dividing plots by area, parallel and perpendicular to one side, azimuth, length of the façade, etc.

  • Utility

MDT has several additional tools for presenting drawings, such as object numbering, drawing and grid coordinates, slope drawing, sheet split, layer control, entity elevation, etc.

  • Reporting

The results offered by MDT can be customized by the user, including their graphical representation and reports.
