What is Track Changes?

With Track Changes better control your content creation process. Track, suggest, approve, or reject changes.

Track changes with Track Changes

  • Track type, delete, split, or merge blocks.
  • Track formatting or style changes.
  • Track the insertion of widgets, tables, images, media, or any other tile content.
  • Comment on the suggested changes.
  • Suggest, approve, or reject changes.
  • Show suggestions or the final document.

Keep full control over document changes

  • Track changes can be enabled by users with a toolbar button.
  • Suggestion-only mode for tracking changes is planned to be available in 2020. This will allow you to configure edit permissions for certain users, while others can only make suggestions.

Use in real-time collaboration with Track Changes

  • Tracking changes is fully compatible with real-time collaboration. Allow users to collaborate on documents while maintaining full control over the content creation process.
  • Different levels of permissions are also supported during real-time collaboration. For example, some authors may operate in edit mode while others are in suggestion mode with change tracking.

Use with standard mode

  • Tracking changes does not require real-time collaboration to work. If you prefer asynchronous editing of documents with a more traditional approach, change traces can be added to CKEditor 5 like any other plug-in.
  • The Change Tracking API lets you save all changes to your servers.
