VisiWave Site Survey is a complete 802.11a/b/g/n/ac survey solution. You collect search data using a standard wireless adapter as you walk through the search area by clicking a low plan image or using a GPS receiver to track your location. VisiWave quickly and automatically maps radio characteristics in the survey area using the included reporting app or integrating with Google Earth. This allows you to easily evaluate your overall Wi-Fi coverage and analyze details in specific areas of interest.

Overview
Step 1
Walk or drive through the search area (building, block, camp, restaurant, airport, campus) collecting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wi-fi data using the optional Wi-Spy spectrum analyzer.
Step 2
Design a report using the built-in reporting tool to create a custom report or reuse an existing report template.
Step 3
Generate the report in PDF or HTML format. Or have VisiWave produce a KML file that you upload to Google Earth for an interactive view of your coverage.
Step 4
Show the results! Show the wireless coverage viewed to your boss, customers, colleagues, community.
Search data collection
VisiWave Site Survey is a complete wi-fi site survey solution. Site searches are performed more simply and faster than competing products and produce more informative visualizations of your wireless coverage.
The site survey data collection process is simplified by using a Windows laptop, a standard wireless network adapter, and a survey area image. You keep track of your location by clicking on the survey map image displayed on your computer screen. As you walk, each time you click the viewfinder, VisiWave associates the current radio wave characteristics with the location you clicked on the survey map. You can also use a GPS device to track your location. Just plug in the GPS device and tell VisiWave to start collecting data.
While data is being collected, a heat map of your wireless coverage is drawn on top of a map of your search area. You can immediately see all access points and ssids discovered. Select any subset of access points to immediately see the coverage provided by these radios.
Wireless reporting and analysis
Facilitating site survey data collection is only half of what VisiWave Site Survey has to offer. After collecting this mountain of information, you need to interpret the data easily. This is done by using VisiWave to create reports and analyze your coverage or by creating a report that is viewed using the Google Earth viewer. Either way, you get rich and easily understandable visualizations of the complex, bulky data captured during a location search. This allows you to quickly evaluate your overall coverage and analyze great details in specific areas of interest.
As an interactive analytics tool, VisiWave brings your site's search data to life. You can make minor changes to your data visualization that immediately highlights significant features of your wireless coverage.
In addition to being able to interactively analyze site search data, you can easily produce a comprehensive report of your findings. Using a set of standard visualizations, complemented by any interesting visualizations you find during your analysis, you can create a professional-looking report that documents the wireless coverage of the search area. In addition to the automatically generated visiwave charts and support tables, you can integrate your notes, interpretations, and written analysis of site search results. The report is published as a PDF file or html web page.
Predictive site searches
VisiWave Site Survey Pro adds the ability to do on-site preventative surveys. This allows you to do a virtual site search even without visiting the actual search site. Instead, you describe the survey area within the VisiWave 3D editing tool. You "draw" walls and other barriers and place access points to create a virtual model of the building or area. VisiWave then runs a Simulation of WiFi radio waves traveling through the 3D model and predicts what the signal strengths will be throughout the search area. The result is a heat map that estimates what the signal strengths would be if the model existed in the real world.
Since the creation of the 3D model can be done in just a few minutes and can be done without traveling to the location of the wireless network, the cost and effort to perform a predictive search is significantly lower than a traditional location search.
View Wi-Fi coverage using Google Earth
With VisiWave, you can use Google Earth to view your wireless networks. VisiWave directly creates a Google Earth KML file that fully portrays your WiFi coverage within the Google Earth viewer. You can tilt, rotate, and fly through graphical representations of your network's wireless characteristics in Google Earth.
