With NAKIVO Backup & Replication, you can improve VMware's backup performance, reliability, and recovery time, saving you time and money.

Main features

  • Deploy in 1 minute: As a VMware Virtual Appliance or install on Windows or Linux
  • Automate VM protection: With VMware backup policies
  • Create a 5-in-1 backup device: Installing on a QNAP, Synology, NETGEAR, ASUSTOR, or WD NAS device
  • Orquestre and automate site recovery: With just a few clicks
  • Protect VMware VMs Live: Including Applications and Databases
  • Save storage space: Excluding data exchange, log truncation, global data deduplication, and compression
  • Increase VM backup speed: With LAN-free data transfer mode and network acceleration
  • Copy backups: VMs externally or to Amazon/Azure clouds
  • Test backups: instantly and automatically
  • Recover instantly: VMs, files, or entire application objects - even on platforms.

Protect VMware VMs

  • Image-based backup

NAKIVO Backup & Replication performs image-based backup of VMware VMs. This means that the entire VM is captured during backup, including all disks and configuration files. Everything is available and ready for recovery.

  • Backup incremental

All VM backup jobs use VMware's Changed Block Tracking (CBT) to quickly identify the changed data. Only these changes (increments) are copied to the backup store, which results in faster backups.

  • Application-aware backup

By default, VMware backup runs using application recognition mode. This ensures that data in applications such as Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, SQL, and SharePoint is transactionally consistent.

  • Long-term backup archiving

NAKIVO Backup & Replication allows you to save up to 1,000 recovery points per VM by rotating them using the GFS retention policy. This provides longer data retention periods and smarter storage space consumption.

Automatize o VMware Backup

NAKIVO Backup & Replication eliminates the need to track all changes to your infrastructure and manually manage key data protection tasks. The product allows you to configure rule-based policies for your VMware backup tasks.

After a policy is created, NAKIVO Backup & Replication can regularly check your entire infrastructure and automatically add new VMs that match policy rules to the relevant VMware backup tasks.

You can create your policy rules based on name, tag, size, location, power state, VM configuration, etc. You can also create VMware backup tasks for entire VMware containers, such as VMfolders, resource pools, ESXi hosts, and VMware ESXi clusters. All new VMs added to a protected container are automatically included in the scope of the container's existing backup tasks.

With the HTTP API, you can integrate NAKIVO Backup & Replication with monitoring, automation, and orchestration solutions to reduce time spent on data protection management, as well as reduce data protection costs.

Increase VMware Backup Speed

By default, NAKIVO Backup & Replication uses a LAN-free backup mode, which can leverage your fiber channel and iSCSI SANs. With Hot Add mode, you can offload management and production networks, significantly increasing data transfer speeds.

You can also enable the Network Acceleration feature, which uses summarization and traffic reduction techniques to speed up data transfer. On average, this results in a 50% network load reduction and an increase in 2X data transfer speed.

Save Storage Space

NAKIVO Backup & Replication automatically skips swap files and partitions into VMware VMs.This speeds up data transfer and saves storage space in the backup repository.

To further reduce the size of the backup, NAKIVO Backup & Replication automatically deduplicates all Backups of VMs throughout the backup store. Deduplicated blocks are compressed to further optimize your storage space.

Test your VMware Backups

After each backup job performs, NAKIVO Backup & Replication can automatically and almost instantly check all backups created. You receive a report with SCREENSHOTS of the VMs retrieved by test. That way, you can be sure that your VMware backups are working.

Copy VMware Backups out and out to the cloud

With NAKIVO Backup & Replication backup copy tasks, your VMware backups can easily be sent off-site and to Amazon or Azure clouds. Data is copied directly from your backup store, and production VMs are not affected.

Backup jobs can be configured in a few minutes and can be customized to suit your needs. You can choose to simply keep a mirrored copy of your backup repository or adjust which VMware VMs are copied.

Instantly recover VMs, files, and application objects

You can instantly retrieve VMs, files, and VMware application objects directly from compressed VM backups. Granular recovery runs directly from the backup store and does not require you to perform a full restore from the VMware backup. With Cross-Platform Recovery, you can recover VMware VMs in a Hyper-V environment and vice versa.

Extend the backup with your environment

NAKIVO Backup & Replication can grow along with your environment to support higher workloads. You can scale NAKIVO Backup & Replication vertically, providing more product resources and horizontally by distributing product components in the same location or across multiple locations.

Provide BaaS and DRaaS with Multi-Tenancy

NAKIVO Backup & Replication lets you create multiple isolated tenants in a single product deployment and manage them from a single dashboard. That way, you can present the backup as a service to your customers in an easier and more cost-effective way. In Multi-Latores mode, tenants can access the self-service portal to unload backup, replication, and recovery tasks from the service provider.
