WAsP CFD is a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) wind model. It will add value to your wind power projects on complex terrain, helping to maximize production and minimize uncertainty. WAsP CFD is easy to use and quickly delivers accurate and reliable results at low cost.
WAsP CFD is an integrated part of WAsP, designed specifically for the assessment of wind resources and location of wind turbines and wind farms on complex terrain. Linear wind models have their limitations in relation to complex terrain due to the exclusion of nonlinear effects. WAsP CFD includes these nonlinear effects and is therefore best suited for complex terrain.
The design philosophy of WAsP is a joint model approach; first, you configure your WAsP project and do your WAsP linear wind model calculations. If the complexity of the terrain justifies the added computational effort, you can later opt for a WAsP CFD calculation. Applying both wind models as a set further reduces uncertainty.
