Why WinArmor is not a silver bullet

Malware protection is the discipline, not the tools. WinArmor gives you an easy possibility to follow this discipline and offers you more freedom, but it does not replace discipline with tools.

Why WinArmor?

One of the best ways to keep your browsing safe is to be different from others, but keep it unnoticeable.

Every time you use the Internet, you run the risk of being attacked by Trojans, spyware, adware, and any other malware, you know. So far, you've had only three ways (and they've become myths):

All these folks are absolutely necessary to buy one more beer, that's for sure.)

What is WinArmor?

There's no magic there; this is just a new vision of safe Internet browsing. In a nutshell, WinArmor offers the possibility to undo unexpected changes after they are made. WinArmor has no viral databases and thousands of signatures; It uses the simple fact that all viral software needs to be nailed to your system for more activities. Therefore, WinArmor mimics successful malware attacks, but simply restarting the preferred browser, email client, chat or messenger application removes all nails without affecting your data.

Obviously, knight ammo (antivirus) is still useful; If you want to traverse the minefields, two pieces of armor (and even a fancy shirt) are better than one, and an additional 6% can keep your computer safe. However, you can say goodbye to the tech's crazy idea that "every click is risky" – now you have a tool to make it safer and easier.

To manage separate settings for each application, such as the browser, WinArmor provides the so-called "sandbox" in the same way as for Flash and Java.

Every application in the sandbox has its own copy of the registry and its own drives (they are part of the existing area of the file system, in the same way as in WinJail, but with a few additions). All other resources (network, pipes, windows) are shared to keep your usual activity unchanged.

WinArmor provides predefined "armor" for about 50 browsers, email clients, messengers, downloaders, chats, most popular for the Desktop; therefore, in the typical case, you need to start WinArmor and take advantage (but remember that unshielded programs are still at risk).

For the server, WinArmor provides predefined "armor" for typical server tasks, such as sharing Web resources (HTTP, FTP, WebDAV, and more), network services (DNS, LDAP, etc.), and other services available in Windows 2003, as well as popular FTP and Web servers. The main purpose of the server edition is to keep your data safe and manage your services isolated from each other, such as the Linux-specific guards SElinux and AppArmor.
