In WinProp, several interfaces and aerial applications are predefined: transmission, cellular, wireless access, WiFi, Ad-hoc sensor networks, ICNIRP and EM compliance. WinProp is a leading software in the field of wireless propagation and radio network planning.
A new dimension of wave propagation and radio network planning.
Scenarios and applications
WinProp's highly accurate and very fast empirical and deterministic propagation models are available for a wide variety of scenarios: rural, urban, internal, tunnel, vehicle. WinProp supports arbitrary transmitters incl. mobile and transmission sites, satellites, repeaters and leaky power cables.
Map data
Depending on the scenario, predictions are based on topographic databases (pixel), clutter (pixel - with or without height and space), urban construction (pixel or vector) and / or databases of objects / 3D flat walls (vector). For a prediction, different types of databases can be used simultaneously, and transitions between databases are calculated automatically. Graphical editors, CAD tools and various converters are available for all types of databases.
Wave Propagation Models
WinProp's powerful propagation mechanisms include empirical and semi-empirical models (calibration with possible measurements), rigorous 3D ray tracking models, as well as the unique dominant path model (DPM). In addition to predicting path loss, delay and angular propagation can also be calculated, as well as LOS/NLOS, directional channel impulse response, angular profile, propagation paths.
Interfaces and aerial applications
In WinProp, various interfaces and overhead applications are predefined: transmission, cellular, wireless access, WiFi, Ad-hoc sensor networks, ICNIRP and EM compliance.
In addition, you can set individual properties of the air interface to adapt it to requirements. In addition to network planning, ICNIRP and EM compliance can be analyzed with WinProp.
Computing and Simulation
Depending on the application, WinProp offers static, Monte-Carlo and dynamic network simulators. WinProp enables coverage and capacity planning, as well as network simulations (algorithm performance, delay analysis). The user can set traffic (location-dependent) for circuit and packet switching services (including statistical distributions, mobility)
Coverage
Different transmission modes can be defined (bandwidth, MCS, data rate, SNIR target, signal limit, Tx power) and coverage maps (cell assignment, best server, active set, channel quality, Rx power in DL & UL, SNIR) are calculated individually for each transmission mode. Adaptation is considered and depends on the quality of the predicted channel with the propagation models. Maximum power received and max. reachable data rates are accurately predicted for each location in the coverage area.
Ability
WinProp calculates the capacity (throughput, maximum data rates, packet delays, QoS) of the different radio links and network cells based on coverage analysis and traffic assumptions. Capacity limitations and overloaded cells can be detected easily and networks can be optimized to provide high capacity and throughput. Capacity improvements due to MIMO and/or beam formation are accurately modeled due to sophisticated deterministic propagation models. Arbitrary antenna settings (linear, circular) are possible and their impact on the radio channel - determined during propagation analysis - is considered in network planning.
