An integrated workspace environment, Winstep Xtreme is a powerful set of desktop enhancement utilities that blend incredible usability and performance with eye drops for breathtaking eyes. The Winstep Xtreme set includes the following applications:

Ultimate Nexus:

The Nexus is the docking system and is perfect for super fast access to the most used applications. You can have as many docks as you want and each can have multiple sub docks and grid stacks! When not in use, stations can hide behind the edges of the screen, taking up virtually no screen space.

Work shelf:

The work shelf adds tabbed docks (shelves) and drawers, best suited for complex organizational tasks such as organizing documents, URLs, movies, work projects. If a dock is the top of your desk, the work shelf is all the drawers below it.

Shelves and drawers make it possible to have a 'clean' desktop without icons by hiding icons on the desktop - icons that can be accessed quickly through the Desktop tab of the shelf.

NextSTART:

NextSTART is the menu system - and also takes care of all your task management needs.

Menus are great for accessing infrequently used files and system-related commands that are not easily reachable in the file system or that do not have easily recognizable graphical representation by the user. The NextSTART task management part allows you to efficiently organize and manipulate running tasks and windows.

Modules:

Modules, widgets, gadgets, docklets, desklets, are different words to describe the same thing: applets that usually live on the desktop and provide an impressive amount of information about your system.

Winstep Xtreme includes a talking clock, trash can, battery monitor, calendar, email checker, moon phases, weather monitor, CPU, network and RAM meters and the amazing Wanda fish.

Winstep Start Menu Organizer Pro:

Winstep Start Menu Organizer is an application designed to help you organize and clear the Windows Start menu.

Over time, the Start menu can get so confusing that you end up spending too much time simply trying to find the program you want to run. The Start Menu Organizer allows you to quickly group your Start Menu shortcuts into a specific set of categories, thus making what you're looking for much, much, faster!

Full integration

NextSTART, Workshelf, and Nexus Ultimate are much more than little-related apps - they've been designed from the start to integrate seamlessly with each other: change the current theme into one and all other apps in the set will automatically switch to match, Workshelf and Nexus use the current NextSTART theme to display your context menus; Menus created by NextSTART can be started on the docks or on the shelf, workshelf docks, and grid stacks can be opened or activated in NextSTART, and more!

Powerful menu system

The NextSTART menu system can easily simulate the appearance of menus on other operating systems. It can also create 'on-the-fly' menus, displaying the contents of folders on your hard drive - this, along with NextSTART's unique ability to display document thumbnails side by side with menus, makes it easy to navigate your entire folder structure, and quickly find what you're looking for.

Create your own menus

If you want to create your own custom menus, no problem! You can do this with a simple drag-and-drop feature or through the built-in, easy-to-use menu editor, both allowing you to create any number of menus. The Menu Editor also allows the use of more than 80 useful built-in commands that provide quick access not only to the specific features of NextSTART, but also to many popular Windows functions.

Hotspot Management

Thanks to an incredibly flexible feature that uses user-defined access points, you can "attach" menus not only to different desktop areas, but also to other apps! Activate your menus using different mouse buttons, 'bumps' on the edge of the screen, keyboard shortcuts, and even special active dot 'buttons' on the desktop.

The actions of the active point are not limited to the display of menus. You can also use them to start programs, open websites in your browser, and even run one of more than 80 useful built-in commands and Windows functions.

NextSTART open docks and grid stacks

You can conveniently open and activate WorkShelf docks and grid stacks from icons in the NextSTART taskbar Quick Start area, NextSTART access points, and even NextSTART menus.

Unlimited flexibility

You decide what to use and what not. If you prefer to use the native Windows taskbar instead of the top NextSTART override, you can simply turn off NextSTART task management - this doesn't prevent you from continuing to take advantage of the powerful NextSTART user-defined menus and the flexible ability to start programs. If you don't need a tabbed shelf or docking station, you can also turn them off - the same for desktop Modules, manually choose the ones that are useful to you, and close the others.

Shelves / docks with guides

Not only being able to keep shortcuts dragged to it, a shelf is also able to display the contents of special shell folders such as desktop, my computer, control panel, recent documents and so on... contents of hard disk folders, which can be manipulated with drag-and-drop feature as usual.

A shelf makes it possible to have a 'clean', organized, iconless desktop, causing Winstep Xtreme to hide icons on the desktop - icons that can be quickly accessed on the Desktop tab. Tabs on a shelf can also have keyboard shortcuts associated with them to cause the shelf to reach the foreground simultaneously and open that particular tab.

You can create as many shelves as you want with the built-in Dock and Shelves Manager, snap them to the edge of the screen of any monitor, or even leave them floating on the desktop. You can even add sub docks and grid stacks to shelves:

Powerful dock and shelf handling functions

Create docks from the existing tabs on the shelf, create tabs on existing shelves, deattach sub-docks, turn them into sub-docks, duplicate them, delete them - all using simple drag-and-drop and/or context options.

Grid stacks

Stacks are a particularly useful new feature that can provide instant access to application content, documents, downloads, and any other folders placed on a station, shelf, or drawer. There they sit until you click on them, when they appear in a grid arrangement.

With the same technology on the shelves, you can also use Grid Stacks to display the contents of virtual shell folders, such as the Windows Control Panel, desktop, documents, and recent applications, UWP applications in Windows 10.

Drawers

Basically, a single shelf with tabs, a drawer is a hybrid dock/shelf, blending some of the best features of the docks with some of the best features of the shelves.

Search filter

Shelves, drawers and grid stacks are able to display folders containing thousands of files - so sometimes finding what you want is the problem.

All you need to do is start typing, and the content is automatically filtered according to what you just typed. You can press Backspace to delete a character or ESC to clear and discard the search filter.

Maximize workspace

Everything in Winstep Xtreme is designed to use as little screen space as possible when not in use: off-screen menus can be invoked by tapping on the edge or corner of the screen with the mouse pointer, the docks can be hidden off the screen until needed. The shelf can be collapsed automatically, so that only the tabs remain visible, the Desktop Modules can be hidden until they are called by a keyboard shortcut or other activation method, and even the floating docks can be collapsed into a single control icon.

Reduce desktop disorganization

In addition to the dragged shortcuts, a tabbed shelf is also able to display the contents of special shell folders, such as the desktop, my computer, the control panel, recent documents, and so on. It is able to display the contents of the selected folders on your hard drive, which can be manipulated with the drag-and-drop feature as usual.

Superior Task Management

Running apps and the tray can be placed ANYWHERE, on the NextSTART taskbar, on the docks, on the shelves, in the drawers, hidden in the grid stacks - you choose!

Tray icon customization

System tray icons are originally small 16x16 icons and can become very blurry when displayed in larger sizes. Winstep Xtreme allows you to customize tray icons with high-resolution alternatives to resolve this issue, with a set of high-resolution images for system tray icons included in the application.

Reflections of live icons

The first (and only) Windows docks with optional reflections of the 'live' icon: reflections are updated in real time if the source icon animates or changes. How much of the icon is reflected is also user configurable.

Powerful object-based Drag & Drop

The object-based interface offers drag-and-drop features that simplify the management of applications, files, printers. Use the Drag and Drop feature to move/copy/rearrange objects from one location to another, both inside and out. off the docks. Drop documents on the dock application objects and load them automatically. You can quickly change the images used by the items by simply dragging and dropping your . ICO, . PNG or . Favorite TIF on the chosen object.

Built-in commands

Built-in commands are special commands that you can add as shortcuts to docks, menus, NextSTART and Shelf taskbar: Hibernate, Shutdown Monitor, Empty Recycler, Show Start Menu, Language Bar, CD Control, SEARCH IP Address and more than 80 others!

Modules / Widgets

Winstep Xtreme has several modules (widgets), such as a digital clock/analog speaker that synchronizes your time with Internet time servers, a battery monitor, a calendar displaying upcoming event schedules using the alarm manager, a recycler, and an Email Checker that supports SSL and multiple email accounts, an animated lunar calendar,  a weather module, CPU, network meters and RAM and Wanda, an animated fish 'fortune cookie'!

Modules are always available in one of two different styles. For example, the clock module can be displayed as an analog or digital clock. Net, RAM, and CPU modules can display information in Histogram format or as a gauge. The Weather module provides two different sets of weather module icons that the user can choose, one photo-realistic, another more like a cartoon.
