Insights that find you with automated business monitoring
Whether you're using threshold-based alerts or yellowfin signals to automatically monitor your data, you can ensure you know when and why important changes to your business data happen, when they happen.
Yellowfin signs and boundary alerts. Always monitoring, discovering, researching and analyzing your business data
With yellowfin signs, you know when, what, and most importantly, why something happened. Combined with threshold alerts, it's your data shortcut to insights so you can safely jump straight to actionable conclusions. Signals is also part of the only analytics suite that combines automated data discovery, action-based dashboards, and data storytelling into one integrated platform that allows you to extract transformational value from your data.
Threshold alerts
For the things you know
Yellowfin Signals monitors your data for predefined custom alert conditions and sends a notification when threshold values are reached.
Signs of yellowfin
For the things you don't
Uses automation and AI to search your data for statistically significant changes and notifying you of those that are relevant
How Signals – powerful, AI-driven automated analytics – finds what you can't
Intelligent and automated, Yellowfin Signals finds and delivers relevant changes to your data.
Yellowfin Signals automates data discovery by searching your company's data for statistically significant changes and notifying you of those that are relevant to your role. Trend changes, period comparisons, peaks, falls, and more. You'll be automatically alerted to the most important changes as soon as they happen, so you can take action immediately. In addition, a signal comes complete with natural language explanation and additional analysis on correlated data changes so you can figure out the root cause quickly.
Use signs in
Ecomm
Signals help retail organizations track shopping, transaction, and category trend data for insights that improve transactional volume and customer profitability, minimize supply chain costs, and optimize the checkout process. With Yellowfin Signals, you can track conversion rates, revenue changes, and detect fraudulent activity.
AdTech
With Signals for AdTech, Yellowfin helps you continuously monitor ad performance in each campaign and each segment, reporting on anomalous spikes and falls in metrics such as traffic volume, quality, and conversion rates, providing the ability to optimize ad performance, identify fraudulent activity, and receive instant insight into changes in revenue.
Health
Yellowfin Signals helps payers, providers and providers analyze large amounts of clinical data, claims, EMR, incidents and drug use to automatically detect outliers and changes as they happen. As a result, optimize decisions about how best to care for patients and reduce the overall cost of treatment and operational risk.
FinTech
Yellowfin Signals provides fintech companies with the ability to detect and diagnose problems early and resolve them quickly. How to identify unusual drops or increases in payment processing error rates across multiple payment entities, geographies, or devices. With Signals, fintech customers have better visibility into the online customer experience.
Manufacturing
Yellowfin Signals enables manufacturers to improve product throughput and quality by quickly detecting and mitigating emerging process problems. Analyze variability in demand, supplier lead times, quality issues, and product line disruptions. Manufacturers gain the actionable insights they need to improve equipment uptime, increase the efficiency of production operations, and more fully utilize plant potential.
Telco
Reduce churn and increase average revenue per user (ARPU) using yellowfin signals, automatically identifying changes in quality of service. Track call configuration success rate (CSSR) or average network quality across multiple sites, devices, carriers, and locations to detect a sudden drop in network performance.
Gaming
Use yellowfin signs to optimize players' gaming experience, understand the impact of new features, and how changing usage patterns are affecting revenue. By monitoring metrics such as engagement, churn, retention, and purchases, Yellowfin Signals helps game developers ensure a seamless gaming experience and maximize revenue.
Utilities
Reduce energy costs and improve building operations through real-time tracking, analysis, and optimization. Yellowfin Signals for Energy Management uses machine learning techniques to enable anomaly detection that helps reduce costs, improve construction operations, and meet the shared energy efficiency goals of utilities and their customers.
What Yellowfin Signals monitors
Outliers
An outlier is a sudden rise or fall in a metric that is outside the expected range. Typically, the metric will revert to its expected range after observing the outlier. For example, an unusually hot day can cause a spike in electricity use, which returns to normal the next day when temperatures cool.
Trend change
A trend change signal is detected when the trend of the metric changes direction or its gradient significantly and diverges from the expected range. For example, vinyl record sales were on a long-term downward trend, until a resurgence of interest made them the fastest-growing music media segment.
Change of Step
A step change signal is detected when the metric has a significant step down or up, but the direction of the overall trend is the same. A sea change in sales can occur when a new point of sale is introduced into the sales channel. Assuming sales are consistent across all stores, a new store simply increases the overall number of sales, but the overall trend remains the same.
New and lost impact variable
A new impacting variable signal is detected when a particular slice of data becomes relatively more important when crossing a boundary. For example, umbrella sales may be a very small part of a business, but due to above-average rainfall, umbrella sales now contribute significantly to revenue – umbrellas have now become an important part of the business.
Skirt
An interrupt signal occurs when a metric falls outside its expected range (above or below) and remains outside that range for several observations before returning to the normal range. For example, a break in the page views of a news site occurs when a major news event occurs, bringing many more visitors to the site in a few days.
Volatility
A change in volatility occurs when the frequency of change in a metric changes. Many metrics have natural peak cycles and hold true when those cycles become faster or slower, which is a change in volatility. For example, the stock market becomes more volatile in times of uncertainty, stock prices rise and fall much faster than usual.
Value-added change
A sum change is detected when the total aggregate value, for example, the mean or sum, of a metric changes significantly, up or down, from one period to another. For example, if due to an advertising campaign, sign-ups on a website increased by 20% week after week, that would be a change in sum.
