What is Zend Guard ?

Zend Guard, the most widely accepted PHP coding and obfuscation product on the market, protects your application from unlicensed use and reverse engineering.

Zend Guard maximizes software profitability by:

  • Limit unauthorized duplication or use of your applications.
  • Ensure that only licensed customers use your products and that they remain within the terms of your license.
  • Offer flexible licensing conditions that make your software products more attractive, increase sales, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Increase the conversion rate of the trial for the licensed product·
  • Preventothers from changing your code (all files render ed if uneditable, and external changes will corrupt the code) by protecting the files from external tampering.

Code and obsis your apps:

You've worked hard to develop your code. Now you need to protect them. Zend Guard's powerful encryption and obfuscation technologies prevent reverse engineering, copyright infringement, and unauthorized modification of your code.

Encoding is a process in which PHP source code is converted to a format readable by an intermediate machine, as is PHP encryption. This format is difficult for humans to read and convert back to source code. As a result, it protects your code from casual navigation. This means that if people gain access to your site's code, they won't be able to use it for unintended purposes.

Obfuscation is a process in which code is intentionally very difficult to read as source code or as reverse engineering code. This obfuscation is designed to manage risks arising from unauthorized access to source code. These risks include loss of intellectual property, ease of investigating application vulnerabilities, and loss of revenue that can result when applications are reverse engineered, modified to circumvent licensing, and then recompiled. Although reverse engineering has always existed in computer software, this is especially important in computing environments, such as PHP, which take advantage of dynamic processing of language elements rather than code that was compiled in the machine language before it was deployed.

PHP Encoder:

Compiles and converts simple text PHP scripts into a platform-independent binary format known as a 'Zend Intermediate Code' file. These encoded binary files can be distributed instead of plain text PHP protecting your programming efforts. Benefits of using this PHP encryption process:

  • Enables php source code protection (against copyright infringement and reverse engineering) of commercial PHP applications through advanced coding and obfuscation technologies.
  • Provides IT Managers with a solution that prohibits modifying their internal PHP application source code so they can effectively support them.
  • Simplified integration with Zend Studio - just one click and your PHP application are coded
  • Automatically detects and suggests PHP code elements (such as functions and methods) to exclude them from being obfuscated significantly reducing development time.
  • Zend Guard License Manager strengthens protection and increases revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Choose from a variety of licensing models, such as concurrent users, limited time, network segment, or specific server.

How the PHP encoder and the PHP Obfuscator work:

The license file, implemented along with coded PHP, is validated at runtime. Licenses can be easily modified or renewed without the need to deploy new software. Suppliers can select and choose from a variety of flexible licensing models:

  • Concurrent users: Usage is limited by the number of users in real time.
  • Limited Time : A time-limited license used for evaluation purposes or time-dependent terms, with predefined due dates.
  • Network Segment: Usage is limited by the range of IP addresses that restricts licenses according to the network topology.
  • Specific server: License limited to specific hardware, based on host ID.
  • Advanced options: Specify advanced licensing options by adding custom code.
