Blancco Technology Group is the Finnish-founded company behind the Blancco secure data erasure platform — certified media sanitization software for enterprises, data centers, ITAD providers and mobile device processors.

Founded in 1997, Blancco keeps offices in London, United Kingdom, and Austin, Texas. It traded on the London Stock Exchange under the ticker AIM: BLTG until 5 December 2023, when the full acquisition by Francisco Partners completed and the shares ceased trading — the company has been privately held since. Blancco reports more than 35 granted or pending patents.

The technology does not erase file references: it overwrites the data on the device following recognized standards — more than 25 of them, including NIST 800-88 at Clear and Purge levels, IEEE 2883-2022, DoD 5220.22-M and BSI-GS/GSE — and verifies the outcome at the end. Every operation produces a digitally signed, tamper-proof certificate stored centrally in Blancco Management Portal, available in the cloud or on-premise. For flash media the company applies the patented Blancco SSD Erasure method (patent 9286231), which handles wear leveling and remapped blocks where conventional overwriting leaves residual data.

Blancco is the most tested and certified data erasure solution on the market: according to the company, its software has been tested, certified, approved or recommended by more than 13 governing bodies and organizations, among them Common Criteria (ISO/IEC 15408), ADISA, ANSSI in France, TÜV Saarland in Germany, STQC in India, NATO/NIAPC, NBV/AIVD in the Netherlands and CCN in Spain. At corporate level the company holds ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. The reports it produces serve as evidence in PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOX, ISO 27001, ISO 27040 and GDPR audits, and in Brazil they support the proof of personal data elimination required by LGPD compliance programs. On scale, Blancco reports serving more than 2,500 customers across 70 countries and erasing 63.8 million devices in fiscal year 2023.
